Sap B1 Patch 2311 sluggish and slowing down system

mkaz

Since upgrading to patch level 2311, the system becomes sluggish after a short while of using it.

This effects all apps, not only Sap B1. The computer becomes very slow but the issue is resolved immediately when closing SAP B1. When the system starts becoming sluggish, Sap B1 display also gets very slow and then distorted. Looks like fonts cannot be shown anymore in a correct way.

Is anybody else experiencing the same?

Prior patch level (2308 with HF) did not have this issue.

We have the same issue in 2308.

Hi mkaz,

This is indeed caused by GDI objects leak, there are 2 known scenarios that can cause this:

1/ Minimize B1 client -> GDI objects will grow by 2 / second (SAP Note 3424945)
2/ Put B1 client into windowed mode and keep changing the window size (SAP Note 3427590)

Both notes are being reviewed, so you will be not able to access those at the moment.
Workaround for the minimizing bug is to use Classic skin or just avoid minimizing the client (it can be maximized in background, that does not cause GDI objects leak).
I did not notice anything wrong with the Inventory Posting List, so I guess you were just looking at Task Manager while B1 client was minimized?

@mikol - can you confirm or otherwise if this issue has been fixed in support package 2402 for Sap Business One 10.0 MS SQL ? I can't see any mention of a UI, GDI or memory leak fix in the notes. I ask because we would not bother to upgrade to 2402 if it isn't fixed. Thanks!

Based on SAP Note 3424945 the issue is also existing inSP2402

Reproducing the issue

Prerequisites:

You are using SAP Business One 10.0 SP2311 or SP2402.

Hi mikol, I think the issue is not fixed in 2402. SAP note 3424945 indicates that the problem is present in versions 2311 and 2402. My SAP representative also told me the same.

Hi @RaMstah and @jrtrigo
As @prpa already noticed in SAP Note 3424945, this issue affects both 10.0 SP2311 and SP2402. Currently it is planned to be fixed in the next patch (2405), but that can change.

For anybody who is stuck with this issue, I have changed to the old Classic skin and this makes Sap B1 again usable.

Hi Michal, this is the most serious issue we ever encountered whit Sap B1. The issue was neither addressed by 2311 HF1 nor by the new 2402. Very disappointing. Not sure how anybody else manages to continue working. I think we all would be grateful if you could escalate this issue and help getting a solution, not a poor workaround.

Totally agree with @mkaz, by now we keep on using fiori cockpit always with the client in maximized window, this is not very comfortable at all

Absolutely agree with the previous posters, at a minimum this requires a quick hotfix release as under normal usage it renders a client machine sluggish at best and unusable at worst.

Investigating this in more detail revealed that the issue is caused by leaking GDI objects.
I think that the leak is always present but is more extreme in Item Master Data -> Inventory posting list.

Once the list is open, the GDI object count just continues to go up by 1-3/sec, easily shown in task manager.

Hope there will be a fix soon.

We have installed and tested 2402 HotFix1.
After a few days now I can confirm that issues are solved (GDI objects constantly increasing in Themed mode when windows are small or minimized).

Beware though, 2402 re-awakened an old issue that was resolved in prior versions: when clicking on the 'Inventory Data' tab in Item Master Data, the app immediatly crashes.

I'll create a new topic for this.

Hi mkaz, How about other app ? In my SAP 10 2311, both SAP and all Apps (expecially Excel) run slowly. Is 2402 HF1 can fix?

In response to BEONE_Vietnam's question: Other programs and apps started to run slowly and finally crashed due to the depletion of GDI objects. Since GDI objects are not leaked anymore in 2401 HF1, all other programs continue to run normally.

Finally a hotfix!  2402HF1 is here promising to rid this annoyance... enjoy.

Hi everyone,

I'm also encountering a similar issue with patch level 2402 after the recent upgrade.

The system becomes sluggish after a short while of using it.

Additionally, there's an error occurring during document printing. If you attempt to select more than 50 documents, it throws a "file path not found" error. This has been quite disruptive to our workflow.

Please let me know if you have any solution for this.

I see a hotfix 1 has been released for 2311. I wonder if this addresses the concerns raised regarding memory leakage and poor performance? Unfortunately change log documentation is non existent. Critical to know these things SAP people, as this affects upgrade planning etc.

I notice 2311 also produces MASSIVE SLD logs, even on a non production server (41GB x 2 files in a matter of a month with no usage). This is not ideal performance wise.

I have installed and tested HF1 for 2311. It did not resolve the issue. GDI objects are still leaked rapidly.

Like mkaz, after upgrade to 2311 HF1 the problem persists.

Hello Micheal,

we are facing the same issue. We are running SAP Business One 10 FP2311 under Windows 11.

After about half an hour the whole system (windows wide) starts to slow down. When SAP is closed, everything is back to normal. We also didn't face this issue prior to upgrading to FP2311.

Thank you for your input.

We have no add-ons running.

Sap B1 starts to slow down the system if left open for a while. Even just leaving the menu open without any other screen will cause this. I think it is slowly leaking display resources causing SAP B1 after a few hours to not be able to show fonts correctly anymore or refresh the window.

Did you test the new patch on the test environment?

Please disable all the add-ons and try, usually after B1 upgrade add-ons also require a new version according to the new patch.

If you do not have an add-on please try to identify on which screen or step sap slows down, which will lead you to find out the root cause.
