Sample Size determination based on Lot Size Range

Hello All,

I just want to know how can I determine the sample size if my lot size range is give below.

Material A

Lot Size Range :-Sample Size

2 -90 100%

91-3200 125 nos

3201-10000 192 nos

10001-above 294 nos

Please advise.

There are a two primary ways that i can suggest.

1) you can use a sampling scheme with your sampling procedures that will allow you to specify varying sample quantities based on the lot size.

2) If you go to the inspection plan header you'll find a minimum and maximum lot quantity. This allows you to create inspection plan A, B, C, etc.. for the various expected lot sizes. The material gets assigned to all three plans. Since they are different plans, they can have their own sampling processes.

Your 2nd option is clear to me.

But in 1st option sampling scheme can we set the range for lot size ? Please confirm.

It's based on lot qty. Yes, there are ranges set in it. But the issue with using sampling scheme is that you would be using one plan. I often find that wiht lot sized testing, that actual tests and types of test often vary too. In which case you would need different inspection plans anyway.
