Sales user exit MV45AFZB values in xkomv only relate to first line item

We wish to popup some quantity break pricing options (for certain conditions) to our customers service users on a line by line basis when they are entering sales orders.

MV45AFZB USEREXIT_CHECK_VBAP seems an appropriate point and works well for the first item on a sales order however

xkomvd does not appear to contain information for other items on the sales order and our read statement fails from thereon

read table xkomv with key

kopos = xvbap-posnr

kschl = 'ZN00'

kinak = space.

is there any way to get refreshed values for xkomv that relate to the current vbap record being processed, or do gurus have other more appropriate places for the code to be placed?
