Sales Order-to-Sales Order copy scenario with BOM material not copying all data

Hi Experts,

We are copying a SO to SO via VA01 and the SO is having BOM material. We can do a full order copy or partial order copy. But while copying the item category of 2nd item with same material is coming incorrectly. Also the material is a BOM material and the sub item gets added from APO Scheduling. Its able to addfor item 10, but not happending for item 20.

Any pointers on how to achieve this?

When I copy the SO to new SO, i have to update reason for rejection in the original SO. Any pointers on how to do this ?

WE can do in userexit_save_document_prepare, but is it fine to call BAPI in that to change other document ?Also how to do commit work in that ?

• Tried with UPDATE TASK - gave dump as it cannot have COMMIT.
• Tried with SEPARATE UNIT DESTINATION 'NONE'. its triggering but not changing anything.

Now we are able to copy as desired, but we need to update in the original reference order.

You can foreclose all open orders and create a new sale order referencing the quotation, after moving the required configuration change and copy control for quotation to order. By this approach, most of your current issues would be addressed automatically.

Surprised and wondering who has recommended this practice. If at all users need to validate certain data before saving a sale order, you can very well have a quotation and against this reference, they can create sale order. Please try to stop the current process and convince the client to go with quotation which has a validity period and you can very well close these

what is the order is already created and partially delivered ? what happens to the original order if an already order exists wrt to quotation ? Similar approach was existing in their other systems also.

First of all, can you tell me as to why you were generating sale order referencing another sale order? What exactly the Business requirement is ?

Users can copy the whole document and correct the incorrect data like pricing condition/quantity and mark the old order to be ignored. For this they can copy via VA01 and give the partial qty.

May be they dont want to enter all the details again and just copy and change the data wherever required.

Now i have 2 issues:

1) to update 'reason for rejection' in original document and

2) if the main documents has BOM material the copy should also rexplode and have the same item category. But its not exploding and the item category also is from VBAP-PSTYN.Any pointers where BOM explosion triggers and happens ? we have APO_SHCEDULING but that only gets the dates.
