S/4HANA Private Cloud - Installed Product Versions

I currently face a challenge in understanding differences between S/4HANA On-Premise and S/4HANA Private Cloud. My client has subscribed to S/4HANA Private Cloud. Here is my confusion

When I verify Installed Product Versions, I see a component S/4HANA On-Prem.

Does it mean the software components for S/4HANA Private cloud and S/4HANA On-Prem are same except that that management of tasks is responsibility of SAP as we have subscribed to S/4HANA Private Cloud

Hello Balamkumar,

Complementing what Marco mentioned, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, also follows the same release strategy as SAP S/4HANA On-premise.

For more detail you can check the SAP Note: 3061124 - SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition - Release Information

Thanks and regards,

Jose M.

Hello Balamkumar,

If still relevant, try to run class CL_COS_UTILITIES. Executing methods IS_S4H_ON_PREMISE or IS_S4H_CLOUD should give you the right answer.

Kind regards,

Thomas

Thanks for pointing out that class, it could come in handy for sure!

However, it could also be confusing in the context of OPs question. Those methods when executed in an S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition system give the following outputs:

IS_S4H_ON_PREMISE = 'X'

IS_S4H_CLOUD = ' '

I would interpret this as saying the system is just an On-Premise system, but that would be incorrect.

Hi Balamkumar,

SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition is based on the same stack, so the components you are looking are the same, however the Private edition include other components in the subscription included but not limited to:

a) Fast technical setup

b) Updates fully managed by SAP

c) Technical operations including security, compliance and scalability

d) etc..

Hope this helps,

Marco
