Dear experts,
Is there a limit to the number of custom fields I can create on Sales Order in S/4HANA Cloud - public tenant?
And is there a way to group them in tab in VA01? I know how to create grouping in the nice Fiori UI, but not so sure on VA01 GUI like screens in S/4HANA Cloud?

In addition to what Daiana presented, I want to tell you that to group custom fields at the item level are group in the tab (Custom Fields) using the webgui app:

Now, as of release 2022, we included capabilities of screen personas in SAP S/4HANA Cloud (https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_CLOUD/4fc8d03390c342da8a60f8ee387bca1a/2515e5ca2de74bc18255e5a62ecd2a0d.html?version=2202.502 ), which allow you to change and adapt the webgui UIs.

So you can adapt the screen as needed if required, however all custom field are now group on the special tab.

Here are my answers:
1. The capacity to add extension fields to data base tables or business contexts, respectively, is limited due to DDIC and data base limitations. Therefore, each application maintains quotas in the extensibility registry for the number of fields and characters which can be added to a business context. When the capacity is nearly exhausted an error occurs when you try to enable custom field usage.

Please consider deleting unused custom fields in this context to add new ones.
2. There is no option to create a group to add the custom fields at VA01. Adapt UI is for SAPUI5 apps, not likely to apply to SAP GUI and Web Dynpro.
