S/4HANA Cloud Public Data Migration Plan

Dear expert community, I hope you can shed some light on this topic,

The 3SL roadmap viewer for S/4Hana Cloud Public edition does not provide an clear guidance on data migration planning that includes suggestion of:

- migration cockpit items (master records, dependent master records, transactional records) dependency and sequence
- migration cockpit items relationship to best practices scope items (example, scope item J45)
- planning space to assign owners, dates of preparation, dates of execution on test an production

Roadmap viewer for 3SL provides a word document called DM approach and Strategy which provides generalities only.

Does SAP offer std accelerator or official documentation that helps partners building accelerator like this? is the team at SAP that owns the maintenance of roadmap viewer considering adding this in the near future?

I recall other SAP methodologies (like the cloud launch) that offered this accelerator (see attached the screenshot DM Plan Sample).

Hello, 

As far as I know, there are ongoing discussions around updating the data migration (DM) approach strategy document on SAP Activate. From the Migration Cockpit perspective, our focus is on the tool capabilities. We do not provide a planning template or specific project planning recommendations, as these are typically covered by consulting teams using their own methodologies.

However, we can offer Testing recommendations (link), which are available on our Data Migration Landing Page (link), and data migration checklist (link).

For an overview of available migration objects, please refer to the Migration Object Documentation (link). This page allows you to configure the view to include information such as "Predecessor Object" (for staging tables) and "Scope Item."

Please note, that prerequisites for the Direct Transfer approach are outlined within each respective migration object's documentation, under the “Prerequisites” section.

SAP Activate also provides relevant content:

As a suggestion, it might be helpful to provide feedback about the “DM approach strategy” directly to the SAP Activate team using the SAP Activate Feedback button. Your input on topics like the “Planning Data Migration” could be valuable for future improvements of SAP Activate.
