Dear experts,

My customer has the following business requirement : the company repairs customer equipment in-house. So they receive the customer equipment, and sometimes they need to send this equipment to a subcontractor in order to do the repair or do some steps of the repair, the company receive back the equipment from the subcontractor, they check the customer equipment before sending back to the customer.

How this process is managed in SAP Service public cloud : from a service point of view, purchasing point of view and logistics point of view ? Or what is the workaround ?

Thanks a lot,

In SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, in-house repair processes are managed with the In-House Repair (3XK) scope item, while subcontractor work is handled through Service Procurement. The workflow usually starts with creating a repair order when customer equipment is received. This allows you to document the condition, required actions, and plan the repair steps. If part of the job needs to be outsourced, you can create a purchase order for the subcontractor and track the service through a service entry sheet.

Logistics are supported by outbound and inbound deliveries, which give visibility over the movement of equipment when it’s sent to and received back from the subcontractor. This ensures that customer property is tracked at every stage.

The setup is practical because it separates internal tasks from external ones but still maintains overall traceability. Businesses outside of SAP follow similar models. For instance, service providers such as PS Home Maintenance often complete general repair tasks internally while relying on trusted subcontractors for specialized work. The key is having a system that balances accountability with flexibility, and SAP’s combination of repair orders, procurement, and delivery tracking makes this possible in the cloud environment.

Hello @Laure_AD

In SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, subcontracting is not part of the in-house repair process. The repair is managed with scope item 3XK In-House Repair, while any external work is handled through Service Procurement with a Service Entry Sheet.

If you want to keep track of logistics, outbound and inbound deliveries are available for sending and receiving the customer’s equipment.
