S/4 - Open Sales Order Report with Partialy Deliveries

Hi, Everyone!.   I'm looking for guidance on how best to support a business requirement to have a sales open order report which takes into account partial deliveries.   List of Sales Orders does not have the ability to include delivery quantity so I'm leaning towards creating a custom analytical query, however, this is proving to be challenging as the available data cubes do not seem to contain the delivered quantity information.   Has anyone developed a similar report?   Does anyone have an advice on how to create the custom analytical query?   Appreciate your time!!

Yes as you might be knowing, most of the standard sales order analytical cubes like I_SalesOrderItemCube are header/item–centric and do not join to the delivery item tables like LIKP/LIPS, or the goods movement data. Delivered quantity is stored in:

  • VBEP (schedule lines) – confirmed and delivered quantities
  • LIPS – actual delivery quantities
  • VBUK/VBUP – delivery status flags (in S/4, it is LIKP / LIPS)

The standard cube doesn’t bring these in because it’s meant for order intake analysis, not fulfilment tracking.

Try with any of the below options

Identify the standard cube closest to your needs like I_SalesOrderItemCube. Create a Custom CDS View (type: Cube) that extends it with:

  • Join to I_SalesOrderScheduleLine (for confirmed/delivered qty)
  • Or join to I_DeliveryDocumentItem (for actual delivered qty)

Add a calculated measure for Open Quantity. Use this extended cube in your Custom Analytical Query. In Private Cloud, you can do this in the Custom CDS Views app without developer keys.

The other option is start from I_DeliveryDocumentItem (contains reference sales order/item and actual delivered qty). Join to I_SalesOrderItemBasic to bring in order qty and other sales attributes.

Thank you, Lakshmipathi. After digging around some more I found the data source I_SALESORDERITEMCUBE contains "order qty open for delivery" which is exactly what I was trying to achieve with a custom CDS view.
