Hi All,
We have a requirement to control the Revision changes in Material master.
In the current process the Material Master revision level is updated when there is a change in Material master or when the BOM components are changed where this material master is used as a header.
The issue is we are having two BOM's Engineering (E)BOM and Production (P)BOM and when there is a component changes in E-BOM, the header material is revised to next level.
The changes in P-BOM is controlled with a different Change number. So my question is how to control the Revision level of header material in the P-BOM
For example :- Header Material is A and components A1 and A2. Now in the Engineeing BOM, A1 quantity has changed and the Header Material is revised to Rev.01 with Change number CH-1 on date 01-May-2011
Now I need to implement this change in Production BOM with Change number Ch-2 , the Header Material A should have Rev01 itself but with a different change number ( on a different validity date, say 01-June-2011)
How can this scenario be mapped? Any suggestions?
Regards,
Aby Thomas
In CS02 when you specify the production BOM details i.e. mtl nos. plant, bom usage, alternative & change nos. as CH-2 & proceed to modify the BOM, do you face any issue?
If not go ahead n make the changes. If not sure, do this in your sandbox first to see if it meets your business need.

Hi Vivek.
Refer to my example in the first post.
The BOM has components A1 and A2. Header material is A. The component quantity is revised in the E-BOM with CH-1 and assigned revision level to the header material from E-BOM.
Now I have a P-BOM for which I need to make the same changes. I use CH-2, for the P-BOM, the component A1 is changed, now I want to assign revision level to the header .. Rev1 is already assigned to the header .. So I can only assign next revision level to the header material right?

Aby Thomas
I am a little confused about what you're trying to do. Can you upload some screenshots to a portal of the steps you're taking now n paste the link here?
From a technical standpoint, the revision level is only relevant for the MM, so while changing BOM, the change nos. associated with this revision level provides the valid from date for the change, implying the change nos. is of importance when modifying the BOM.
So if you want to change the P bom with CH-2, all you need to do is just follow per my initial input in this post. Once you do that, the component which gets modified will have the new change nos i.e. CH-2.
