Resource Scheduling with SAP Standard (Out-of-the-Box) Solution Without RSH/MRS

Hello SAP Experts,

Our client wants to explore out-of-the-box resource scheduling functionality in SAP S/4HANA without purchasing Resource Scheduling for Maintenance Planners (RSH) or Multi resource Scheduling (MRS) applications, as these require separate licenses.

Could anyone provide insights on the following?

  1. What is the business process flow for resource scheduling using only standard SAP functionalities like CM25 (Capacity Leveling) without RSH and MRS?
  2. Can we access or execute CM25 in the SAP Fiori environment?
  3. Are there any SAP articles or documentation explaining the limitations of CM25 compared to RSH?

Your guidance and references would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sarvan Kumar

Hi Sarvan Kumar,

To be able to dispatch single operations and suboperations individually and level the work center utilization, you need to enhance the core functions of SAP S/4HANA with the additional license for Resource Scheduling.

See the link below for information on the differences between scheduling with SAP S/4HANA asset management for resource scheduling and without: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/e72f747389b340229f7fa343975bfa57/1ffad6fc878e42acb4e...

Additionally RSH offers the ability to manage work center utilization, use the maintenance scheduling board, manage schedules, plan maintenance work for assets, and much more. See the documentation here: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/8308e6d301d54584a33cd04a9861bc52/f2d1705780175c08e10... and a demo video here: https://www.sap.com/assetdetail/2023/12/40919e2d-a27e-0010-bca6-c68f7e60039b.html

I would also note that RSH is not intended to be a successor of CM25, and lastly, CM25 is not supported in the Fiori environment.

Hope this helps,
Ryan
