Required Roles for SAP BW consultant to Work on SAP ECC

Hello SAP Community,

As a SAP BW consultant, I need to understand what roles or authorizations are typically granted to a BW consultant in SAP ECC to facilitate tasks such as:

• Extracting data using standard and custom extractors

• Accessing tables and data sources for creating data flows

• Running or debugging programs (if needed)

• Viewing configuration and function modules related to data extraction

It would be helpful if you could specify whether any specific SAP Basis roles, functional roles, or custom roles need to be requested.

Hi Amir

In Support we request the authorizations, which are outlined in the KBA-s:

• 3352612 Authorizations for support users in the BW-BCT and BC-BW* cases
• 3351970 Authorizations for support users in the BW Warehouse Management Area

I this covers the majority of the actions that you listed.

Of course everything depends on how the authorization concept is done in the system and it might be needed to make further adjustments.
