Red/Yellow Flags of Stock Room Management Compatibility Report

Hello All,

We are using WM in S4/Hana and we DO NOT use any of the components that are not part

of Stock Room Management.  We have simple warehouse operations.

However, when the compatibility report is run, it shows a red flag and a couple of yellows.  We are perfectly happy to continue with SRM but wanted to know if we are obliged to do something about these flags?  If we are absolutely not using any of the processes - cross docking or wave management or warehouse control interface (no interface with any third-party application), should we really be spending resource time (money) to attempt to get green flags?

Your response will be much appreciated.  Thank you very much

Shrikanth

Hello @Shrikanth_P

Just to be on the safe side, I would change the configuration to get to the green status, or at least to the yellow one. Assuming you are not using any of the questioned functionalities, it is safe and straightforward to do. You have issues in three areas:

Warehouse Control Unit

Go to SPRO Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> External Systems -> Configure Warehouse Management -> Function Modules for IDOC Creation and remove all the entries for the warehouse 115.

Wave Management

Go to SPRO Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Define Number Ranges -> Assignment (button Number Ranges) and remove a number range from the NR Group field for the warehouse number 115.

Cross Docking

Go to SM30, view T333_V and remove cross docking relevancy from all movement types for the warehouse number 115.

Best regards

Thanks Dominik for your valuable pointers. While I am happy for us to do this and we did succeed getting a green for the red in a test system, just assessing the effort of doing this for some 10 locations (warehouses) that we have makes me wonder on the cost of testing all the processes before we put the changes in Production. Conversely, I wonder what may be the repercussion of not doing that and saving ourselves the investment of time/effort especially knowing very clearly that we are NOT using any of the components in our business operations. Are we obliged to turn these into green from SAP audit point of view, I wonder. Thanks again very much for your help.

Hi Shrikanth, To your subsequent questions ("Are we obliged to turn these into green from SAP audit point of view"), you are not obligated by SAP to get all greens on this report. The report is informational and intended to provide you guidance on where you may be out of compliance with using Stock Room Management in S/4HANA after the Compatibility Pack timeframe end (December 2025). I don't recommend to ignore the indications given, however - you should do the due diligence to ensure these components are not used, as the components would first be "end of use license" and then in any version after EOY 2025, the functionality could be technically deprecated and could cause problems in your system if any of the functionality is being used (even in any customizations). More information is provided in OSS 2881166 (https://me.sap.com/notes/2881166/E) and other related notes.

Hello @Shrikanth_P

I don't think you need to regression test all warehouse processes after those changes - as you said, you are not using either WCU, Wave Management or Cross Docking. If you are still concerned, I'd remove WCU configuration (the 1st point) to get from red to yellow status.

Those problematic settings are just artifacts from the initial warehouse setup, where a new warehouse number is copied from SAP standard one 001.

Best regards
