Can someone explain me the difference between below attributes with one real time example. And also, why don't we have meins & bstme in MARM table as this is master table for UoM ? I know these could be very basic questions but I am from technical background trying to understand the core retail domain.
1) Base unit of measure (meins):
2) Purchase order unit of measure (bstme):
3) Alternate unit of measure (meinh):
Hi There
Pl find some explanation below which I have digged in from SAP help
1. "MEINH Alternative Unit of Measure for Stockkeeping Unit
Unit of measure in which quantities can be entered alternatively to the base unit of measure / stockkeeping unit. EA
2. MEINS: Unit of measure in which stocks of the material are managed. The system converts all the quantities you enter in other units of measure (alternative units of measure) to the base unit of measure.
You define the base unit of measure and also alternative units of measure and their conversion factors in the material master record.
Dependencies
Since all data is updated in the base unit of measure, your entry is particularly important for the conversion of alternative units of measure. A quantity in the alternative unit of measure can only be shown precisely if its value can be shown with the decimal places available. To ensure this, please note the following:
3. BSTME is same as MEINS mostly used as a data type for Purchase order items mostly used when you order items using Purchase order
Honestly these are used based on how the system was configured so you may see different clients using them differently but as per the help documentation of SAP above is what each of them means!
Let me know if that helps to clarify

Vinita
