Normally, for characteristics that are defined as not required in the control plan, we proceed by leaving the result field blank. As a result, these optional characteristics appear as “NA” or “Not Applicable” on the certificate of analysis, which is the intended behavior.
The issue:
Even after clearing the values for the optional characteristics, the calculated characteristic retains its old value instead of being recalculated or left blank accordingly. When I attempt to force recalculation or leave it empty, the system throws an error. From a business perspective, if the input characteristics are left blank (since they are optional), the calculated result should also be blank, not hold a previous calculated value.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or found a way to force recalculation or reset the formula-based characteristic when optional inputs are cleared after rejection?
