Greetings,
we have two materials that are used in production together. When one is used so is the other. These two materials are purchased externally.
Is there any way to link these two materials in such a way that MRP generates a purchase requisition for a fixed quantity of the required material (material 1) as well a purchase requisition for the second item?
The requirement is such that when a purchase requisition is made for one material it should also be created for the other.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Matjaž.

Hi mmoser1
As per requirement you can do enhancement in Purchase order and validate both materials are mention in PO with same procurement quantity or not if both materials procure from same vendor or else validate while creating A material PO B material open PO for same quantity available in system and vise varsa.
If issue get resolved with provided answer please accept the same and close the thread. As it is still shown as open.

Dear Rupesh,
we thought about that yes. Seems to be the only option. We will link materials using classification. Each material will have its "twin" written as a value of a class characteristic then in purchase order we will check if material in purchase order item has a twin material and add it as a second item of purchase order.
Thank you for your contribution.

Hello mmoser1,
As per above mention scenario and requirement you can go through MTO or MTS scenario and need the proper bill of material maintained on higher assembly material hence once you execute MRP system will check stock of below attached material as per bill of material qty and generate PR.
Note : If stock of both material is maintain simultaneously then only system generate same qty PR or else it will be as per bill of material requirement and stock availability.

Dear Rupesh,
Thank for your answer. If I understand correctly your solution should work if both of my materials are incorporated in a BOM of a higher assembly. Since stocks for both of them should be consumed simultaneously the replenish should also occur simultaneously.
Are there any possibilities of linking two materials that are not part f the same higher assembly. One material is part of an assembly A and the other of assembly B. Consumption of these two materials is not simultaneous.
Is there an option that in such a scenario both materials are replenished simultaneously?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,
Both of these child materials are procured externally from the same vendor and in the same purchase order. Why these two are procured simultaneously is as established in the business process.
Currently when one is being procured via purchase order the other one is manually appended to the same purchase order. We would like to avoid this manual addition of the other material and somehow automate it.

Hello mmoser1,
if both assembly not used simultaneously means use of both child component is different, can you please elaborate then why this both of child part need to be procured simultaneously and is this both part procure from single vendor and part of single purchase order.
