Projects instead of internal orders

Dear All,

our customer was working in the past with internal orders to post revenue and costs on it. Internal orders are not supported in S4 HANA Cloud and therefore we would like to work with projects in the future. With projects I mean the projects of scope item 1NT (not Professional Services).

I saw that it is not possible to post Revenue on a PSP element which was created with the project builder. The only chance is to use profitability segment and maintain the PSP element there. Is that right or do you know any other solution?

thank you for the answer!

So that means that revenues can only be posted on the root node of the project but not on a WBS element because the billing element flag cannot be set there.

Are there any other restrictions?

Hi Roy,

Project with Revenue

You can plan and post costs / revenues for your project, monitor the project, and finally close the project. To allow revenue postings to your project, you must set the billing element flag for the corresponding accounting object. Presently, only the root node of the project can have the billing element set. The values associated with responsible cost center, company code, profit center, and functional area are identical across all objects in the project structure.

Hi Roy,

It is perfectly possible to post revenue on WBS (or as you call it PSP). There is a master data flag called "billing element" that allows for revenue postings.

thank you for your answer! Unfortunetaly I didnt find the flag which was mentioned in your answer.In the App "Project Control" I have different kinds of projects to create (project profiles). The only Project Profile I found which allows direct revenue and cost postings is the profile "project with revenue". Do you know if I can use them or are there any restrictions which I need to Keep in mind?

Hi Roy,

Revenue postings are controlled by the field PRPS-FAKKZ. Its visibility in CJ20N is controlled by configuration. Cannot say anything about Fiori as that is a different story, essentially another system (not just the UI) growing inside quite independently from old configuration...

I do not know the configuration behind the profile "project with revenue" in your system, mostlikely it should be okay, just test your end to end process.
