Product Reservation for Sales Order

Hi Experts

Good afternoon.

We have below business requirement for sales order

We will create a sales order along with a customer down payment. Once the customer pays the down payment amount, the product will be reserved for the sales order.

The reservation will have the following scenarios:

  • If the customer pays half of the payment, the stock will be reserved for one month.
  • If the customer pays the full amount, the stock will be reserved for three months.

The customer has to take delivery within the reservation period. If the reservation period exceeds, the customer will be charged 3% of the invoice value as a storage fee.

I am aware that, in the standard system, we don’t have any reservation facility. However, I am seeking an alternative solution for the above business requirement.

Thank You

Hi,

Based on your business requirements, I recommend exploring the Product Allocation functionalities available in advanced ATP, which requires an additional license (scope item 1JW). Product Allocation is designed to manage the distribution of limited products to customers or customer groups according to predefined allocations. This process ensures that high-priority customers, regions, or channels receive an appropriate share of available inventory.

For a detailed overview of how Product Allocation operates and the benefits it offers, you can refer to the following resources:

Additionally, there are several business add-ins (BAdIs) that allow you to customize and enhance Product Allocation for your specific business needs:

Regarding the integration between customer downpayments and product allocations in sales orders, you may need to implement custom logic using the appropriate BAdIs or APIs.

I hope this guidance helps you in considering possible directions. It might also be beneficial to seek consulting services from SAP professional services or a project implementation partner for more tailored advice.

Best Regards,
Fancy
