We are on the implementation phase of a RISE Public edition and the customer uses POWERBI.

We would like to connect to HANA instance using ODBC/JDBC in order to develop reports. Can you please guide if this possible or anything standard available?

As far as currently established scope in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition there is no direct integration available for PowerBI with SAP S/4HANA Cloud systems. For SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, we have embedded analytics (https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_CLOUD/a630d57fc5004c6383e7a81efee7a8bb/dd28bf545e91ee05e10000000a4450e5.html?) in the form SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for analytics & reporting.

This analytics is embedded in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition system and included in the default licensing of the subscription. You can also connect the Enterprise edition of SAC for further full scope reporting capabilities as required. That being said, if you still want to use the PowerBI without the pre-delivered integration, you can always use the APIs available in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition (https://api.sap.com/products/SAPS4HANACloud/apis/all) or even convert the CDS views available to OData APIs to be consumed as source to the PowerBI. In fact there are multiple customers who have had this use case and using the APIs to source the Power BI for reporting.

Check this - Create CDS views in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and consume them as API - https://blogs.sap.com/2018/01/23/create-cds-views-in-sap-s4hana-cloud-and-consume-them-as-apis/.
