Hello Experts,
Our client has the following requirement, can you advise the best solution for this. Searched on the Web, but did not find the solution.
Base unit of measure = KG, Purchase UOM = M2 (Sq M.), say 1 KG = 1.5 M2, sometime it may be 1 KG = 1.5 M2, or 1 KG = 1.8 M2, or 1 KG = 1.3 M2, ..... How to handle this? Only in Inforecord, or do we need to change always in Alternate UOM.
How to see the stock in both UOMs (i.e. in KG and in M2) in MMBE only?
Thank you in advance.

You're right—if you define 1 KG = 1 M2 in the Material Master, then MMBE will display both units with the same value. Since the conversion ratio varies, handling it through the Purchase Info Record is a better approach. For Point 3 (Alternative UOM in MMBE) in S/4HANA, the configuration path may differ. Instead of the traditional SPRO path, try:
1. activate Dual UOM in MMBE via Configuration:
- Transaction Code: OMJ7
- Look for "Allow Alternative Unit of Measure in Inventory Management" and ensure it is activated.
2. Check Material Ledger Settings (if applicable):
- If Material Ledger is active, the system might enforce valuation in the base UOM, making dual UOM tricky.
- Verify in SPRO under:
Materials Management → Valuation & Account Assignment → Activate Material Ledger.
3. Check Display Settings in MMBE:
- In MMBE, click on "Settings" and check if there is an option to display alternative UOM.
For your issue while creating the Material Master, if the system mandates a conversion, you might have to:
- Enter a default conversion (e.g., 1 KG = 1 M2 just for creation),
- But rely on Info Records (ME11/ME12) to define actual vendor-specific ratios.
