PO with Alternate UOM and Stock Report with Alternate UOM

Hello Experts,

Our client has the following requirement, can you advise the best solution for this.  Searched on the Web, but did not find the solution.

Base unit of measure = KG, Purchase UOM = M2 (Sq M.),  say 1 KG = 1.5 M2, sometime it may be 1 KG = 1.5 M2, or 1 KG = 1.8 M2, or 1 KG = 1.3 M2, .....  How to handle this?  Only in Inforecord, or do we need to change always in Alternate UOM.

How to see the stock in both UOMs (i.e. in KG and in M2) in MMBE only?

Thank you in advance.

To handle this scenario in SAP, follow these steps:

1. Use Info Record for Variable Conversion – Maintain the conversion factor (e.g., `1 KG = 1.5 M2, 1.8 M2, etc.`) in the Purchase Info Record (ME11/ME12)
for each vendor/material combination. This allows flexibility without changing the material master.
2. Maintain Alternate UOM in Material Master – If a fixed conversion is required, maintain it in Material Master (MM02) →
Additional Data → Units of Measure under Alternative UOM. But since the ratio changes, it's better to handle it via Info Record.
3. Enable Dual UOM in MMBE – To view stock in both Base UOM (KG) and Purchase UOM (M2) in MMBE, activate "Display Quantities in Alternative UOM" via customization:
- SPRO → Materials Management → Inventory Management and Physical Inventory → Define Attributes of Material Document Types → Enable Alternative UOM.
4. Use Batch Management (Optional) – If different conversion ratios apply per batch, activate Batch Management and maintain batch-specific
conversion in the classification.
With this setup, stock can be viewed in both KG and M2 dynamically in MMBE without manual conversions.

Thank you for the above info. Regarding MMBE field for alternate UOM, the above configuration path is not available in S/4 Hana (as shown above in No. 3). Can you kindly advise this. Thank you,

Thank you for the above info. While creating the Material Master, the system is asking for conversion. If we give 1 KG = 1 M2, then in MMBE it is showing same value for Kg and M2. Also, No 3 above, SPRO Define attributes .... is not showing in our SPRO (S/4 Hana). Thank you,

Thank you for the info. We had maintained conversion 150 M2 = 100 KG in ME11. Also as system had asked for conversion while creating the material master, we had maintained 1 KG = 1 M2. After GR, in the MMBE it is showing as 66.6 KG and 66.6 M2 (instead of 66.6 KG and 100 M2). The option to display Alternate UOM in MMBE in OMJ7 is not showing.
