PM-MM: Material master details required for Spare Parts

Dear Experts,

I'm new to PM.

I would like to know what the minimum data are that needs to be maintained in material master record for each spare parts. My client has the spare parts procurement scenario where they order material from outside for maintenance orders.

1. Which view of material master need to be maintained for each material(spare part)?

2. Which are the important fields in each of these view which should be mandatorily maintained for external procurement to work?

Answer:Below Views mostly needed in Material Master

Basic Data 1,Basic Data 2,Purchasing,General Plant Data / Storage 1,General Plant Data / Storage 2,Accounting 1,Accounting 2

2. Which are the important fields in each of these view which should be mandatory maintained for external procurement to work?

Answer:"Material Group" Field in View Tab "Basic Data 1" and "Purchasing Data"

               "Valuation Class" Field in View Tab "Accounting 1"

                "UOM" Field where ever it appears in View Tab

Hello

Costing Tab is not required for Plant Maintenance point of view.

Costing Tab generally used in PP for below reason

To determine cost Estimation depends on PP Bill Of Material and Routing.

It will required when you manufacturing any Product  so that need to have materials .So to determine manufacturing cost of product via PP order it will uses the Bill of Materials of PP and routing and calculate the cost by Raw Material price depends on valuation variant
