Dear All,
Can u plz explain me significance of Planning calendar. As far as I know,it is used when Lot size
is used as period lot size = planning calendar. But,I want to know whether it has significan in PIR creation. In MD61 Iam selection Planning Period as 'Calendar Format',system throws error as maintain
planning pd. for Planning calendar.
Hi,
Planning calender is used to define flexible length of period.
You can define your planning period with planning calender.
Create planning calender by MD25.
If you want to use planning calender your lot size should be period lot size ie, wb, mb.
When creating planning calender you can define valid upto date & also period start from which day ex. week start from tuesday or thrusday.
If you want to plan a material for every thursday, you can use this.

Dharma

Connecting the planning calendar to your lot size key
First, you will need to set up the planning calendar.
Menu path: Production -> MRP -> Master Data -> Planning Calendar (MD25)
You will then need to use this planning calendar (the one you created) in the material master when planning your raw materials (MRP2 View in 4.6C - Field name : Planning Calendar).
1. When you maintain the planning calendar you will need to enter a valid from date and valid to date.
2. Your periods will also need to be set up and they will be weekly, for example:
From Date : 11/23/2001 To Date : 11/29/2001 (11/23 is a Friday, this is your from date).
Do this for as may weeks as you wish (say weekly for 2 years).
3. When you have set up the planning calendar, you will then need to make some changes to the weekly lot size configuration
(WB), or you may need to create a new lot size key if you do not want to change 'WB'. Essentially, you will need to use the
following in the lot size configuration (OMI4) :
No. of Periods : 1
LotSizeProced.: P
LotSize ind : K
Scheduling : 1
By using the above, you are connecting the planning calendar to your lot size key.

Check for the horizon maintained in planning calendar & factory calendar validity.
As per SAP; system groups together the purchase order proposals, which fall within the period, defined in the planning calendar to form a lot when using planning calendar
Function: Planning calendars define flexible period lengths for material requirements planning at plant level
Example: You have VSF / LSF for 3 days i.e. monday, wednesday & friday for Period 1 (12.03.2009 - 18.03.2009). System will club all these three requirements and deliver on the first day of the period (12.03.2009)
This is how it should behave
Please check and revert

Thank you Vicky,
Fert -- xyz code ( Strategy 10/LSF)
Roh -- 123 code ( lot size : PK , mrp type: pd maintained )
Demand given to xyz in day wise format -- MD61,
When i come to MD04, this error is coming
Error determining planning periods for calendar
Even i run the mrp , not planned for roh material
Please advise me, how to go about it

I have created a SAP Planning Calendar via MD25 with the intent that when the MRP runs it includes weekend and holidays as well.
Unfortunately, when the MRP runs it picks up the factory calendar which is without weekends nor does it have public holidays.
Attached are the screen shots to the steps I am doing.
Step 1. Currently the System calculates based on the Factory Calendar( excludes Weekends and Public Holidays) Notice the column u201CActual Coverageu201D
We would like that the MRP should include the Weekends+ Public Holidays in the nightly planning run i.e. 365 days of the year.
The Lot Size : PK and the Planning Calendar : DSI
The parameters used during the MRP Run.
Processing key NETCH
Create purchase req. 2
Delivery schedules 3
Create MRP list 1
Planning mode 1
Scheduling 1
Planning date Current Date
After the MRP Run , the actual coverage column still shows workdays.

Is there a way that when the MRP runs it picks up the SAP Planning Calendar (with weekends and holidays). If yes please can you mention the steps that i am missing.
Dear Stuti,
Maintain the Periods in the Planning Calendar for which it will be in use in T Code MD26 - Change Planning Calendar.
