Hi Team,
Can anyone provide the information of PIR consumption & reduction details wrt to strategy. Will be useful for all.
Your input will be very much appreciated.
Planning Strategy | PIR Consumption (When) | PIR Reduction (When) | Is Maintenance of "Mixed MRP" Mandatory in material master? |
10 | No Consumption of PIR against incoming sale order | When goods issue or delivery done for sale order (601 Movement Type) according to consumption mode & period maintained in material master | NO |
11 | No Consumption of PIR against incoming sale order | When GR (101 movement type) is done for production order according to consumption mode & period maintained in material master | YES. Mixed MRP = 2 |
40 | ? | ? | ? |
50 | ? | ? | ? |
20 | ? | ? | ? |
etc |
Thanks

Selva,
The consumption is controlled by PIR consumption indicator (PBIM - ZUVKZ) and the allocation indicator of the customer requirements for the SO and deliveries (VBBE-VPZUO or VBBS-VPZUO). These two values should be same (consult OSS note 1715491).
Generally when they are derived from the main strategy (T461P-HPTST) of the strategy group, please follow the below sequence:
1. Extract T461P-HPTST according to the strategy groups.
2. Extract T461S-BEDVP (ReqType IndReq.) and T461S-BEDKU (ReqmtTyp CusReq). The normal concept of consumption is a suitable customer requirement consumes the planned independent requirement. So from this output, where one of the cells is blank in these two columns, delete that row.
This now gives the combinations where both T461S-BEDVP and T461S-BEDKU are present in the row.
3. From T459A, get the requirement type - requirement class mapping.
4. From T459K, get T459K-VPZUO for the requirement classes w.r.t customer requirement types and T459K-ZUVKZ for the requirement classes w.r.t independent requirement types.
You now have the data in the following format:
Strategy Group Main Strategy Req Type (Ind) Req Class (Ind) Consumption Indicator (Ind) Req Type (cust) Req Class (cust) Allocation Indicator (cust)
Now cross check whether Consumption Indicator (Ind) and Allocation Indicator (cust) columns are the same. They should be the same as per the OSS note mentioned earlier.
Based on this consumption indicator/ allocation indicator, the consumption will take place. Please check the thread shared below which describes the interpretation of the values for this indicator:
http://scn.sap.com/thread/2035288
I would also suggest to check OSS notes 47045, 772856 and 772857.

Rajen

Hi Rajen,
I appreciate your patience for detailed information.
As you have mentioned, the table entries "PBIM - ZUVKZ, VBBE-VPZUO or VBBS-VPZUO" SHOULD be considered for PIR CONSUMPTION.
In which customizing transaction / table entries like above to be referred to obtain the PIR reduction configuration?
Is my below observation correct? (Attached file as well, if you have any correction on my observation)
Planning Strategy | PIR Consumption (When) | PIR Reduction (When) | Is Maintenance of "Mixed MRP" Mandatory in material master? |
10 | No Consumption of PIR against incoming sale order | When goods issue or delivery done for sale order (601 Movement Type-PGI) according to consumption mode & period maintained in material master | NO |
11 | No Consumption of PIR against incoming sale order | When GR (101 movement type) is done for production order according to consumption mode & period maintained in material master | YES. Mixed MRP = 2. |
40 | When sales order is entered | When delivery (PGI) is posted against the sale order (601 movement type) according to consumption mode & consuption period maintained in MMR | NO |
50 | When sales order is entered | When delivery (PGI) is posted against the sale order (601 movement type) according to consumption mode & consuption period maintained in MMR | NO |
20 | NOT APPLICABLE PIR is not applicable for pure MTO scenarion (strategy:20). So no consumption of PIR against incoming sale order | NOT APPLICABLE | NO |
Assumption: Only "Main Strategy" is maintained within strategy group in SPRO. No alternative strategies are maintained in strategy group |
Thanks
Selva,
Please also check OSS note 772857 as mentioned in my earlier reply. This discusses about PIR reduction. However, I am not aware of any configuration setting that denotes when the reduction takes place. In most of the strategies the reduction takes place during PGI, but yes, for strategy 11, it is during production GR.
Kindly also check OSS note 772857 question number 9.
Best Regards,
Rajen
Hi Team,
Can anyone provide your inputs on "Based on which configuration the PIRs are getting reduced" ?
I understand that it is based on OMJJ (Movement type config) & OVZI (Assignment of req type to transaction)
I have clarification as below:
Q1: For the strategy "11- Gross Requirements Planning", the PIR is reduecd during "Goods Receipt against Production Order (101 Mvement type)". Is this setting done in OVZI as mentioned as above?
Q2: Is the OMJJ & OVZI settings are inter related to each other during PIR reduction? I am understanding that the below OMJJ configuration is enough to control the PIR reduction. What is the importance of the OVZI setting for PIR reduction?
Thanks
