Hi QM Guru,
I have 2 questions regarding physical sampling.
1.Samping difference between Inspection type15 and QPV2
With inspection type 15, is it only for manual inspection lot? when doing UD, we can specify sampling quantity.
With QPV2 along with inspection type like 01/04 and inspection plan, sampling quantity can be calculated in inspection lot.
Pls help me clarify the difference.
2. Physical sampling cost,
Does it always go to the cost center in plant level setting?
Many thanks for your help,
Sally
Dear Sally,
thank you for the details provided.
Related to point 1.) please check following SAP Help sources:
To point 2.) cost handling in QM, start your research here:

Hi Albert,
Appreciate the useful information shared.
I got to know the 2 types of physical sampling:
1. Manual: QPR1 (with inspection type 15)
2. Auto: create physical sampling procedure (QPV1) and assign it to inspection plan.
Pls rectify me.
Many thanks,
Sally

Hi Sally,
thank you for the feedback.
1.) I recommend to start further reading with:
'Inspection of Samples'
Here you will see the difference between 'Manual creation of samples' and 'Manual creation of inspection lots for existing samples'
1.1.) QPR1 - Create Sample
'Manual Creation of Samples'
'Creating a Sample Record Manually'
1.2.) QPR5 - Manual Inspection Lots for Samples
'Manual Inspection Lots for Samples'
'Creating Inspection Lots for Samples'
--> relevant for lot origin 15
Transaction QPR5 has its own documentation as well, you can reach from the transaction itself (icon with 'i').
2.) You have mentioned:
"physical sampling procedure"
This is kind of a mix of terms. There is
'sample drawing procedure' (QPV2 - for physical samples/inspection points)
and
'sampling procedure' (QDV1 - for sample size calculation).
2.1.) QPV2 - Maintain sample drawing procedure
'Sample-Drawing Procedure'
2.2.) QDV1 - Create sampling procedure
'Sampling Procedure':

Hi Sally,
what I could do related to your other question is to alert the moderators about the incorrect tag.
It is not a QM, but rather a classification issue, correct tag seems to be: PLM Classification.
Have a nice day,
Albert
Hi Albert,
Really be grateful for the additional information, which is very helpful for a QM newbie like me.
It seems the former Fire Fighter Mr. Craig is not active or leaving here, I really hope you are the Fire Fighter helping us.
Regards,
Sally

Hi Sally,
thank you for the kind words. I hope Craig is still here, he has really wide and deep QM knowledge. Nevertheless, there are always experienced peers who are ready to help, like Dipeshkumar Bhavsar, Sara B, Holger Hartung and many more (just a couple of names, which came to my mind). This is why it is called Community. Thanks for everyone here for their efforts answering/upvoting/commenting. Whenever I have a little time, I put it into building the common knowledge base here to benefit all of us in QM shoes.
Have a nice day and feel free to share your experiences on your journey as well (blog is also an option),
Albert
