Hi
am using 4.6c i have one problem i have to post the material in unrestricted use mov type 561 am getting error period problem so plz provide me the steps to closing the period from 1998 to 2008 and want to open in 2009.
Thanx
First go to OMSY and check the current period for your Comp code..
Then go to MMPV trx..
and Enter Comp code, period & year..
Here you need to enter the period you wants to open..
Ex: The Current period in OMSY is 10,2007
Then you need to enter period 11 & year 2007 in MMPV.
So, that period 10 will be closed & Period 11 will be opened automatically..
Like that you need to close the periods one by one till the period you want to post.

if you are starting with a new plant, then you can execute MMPI to initialize the period to the current period, so there is no need to roll periods monthwise from 1998 to 2009.
This was for MM period.
But as you post values at the very same time the Financial periods need to be open too.
They can be set in OB52 (best this is done from finance guys)
Other way of doing it is follow these steps( But try this method in Sand box Only):
1. Go to OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
2. Go to OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
3.Go to OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.
If you have not created any Transactional data in company code then go to OMSY trxn code and Change the Period and Year to 10 2008 against your Company code and Save.
Before you Start creating Master datas you must Activate Material Management in Company code in OMSY Trxn code.
Search in SDN MM forum with key word Posting possible you will find hundreds of similar threads.
