Dear All,
I have the following scenario,
FG "Material 1" is Produced at Plant A.
Routing of the FG has 5 operations.
First 2 operations carried out at plant A,
3rd operation is carried out at Plant B,
last 2 operations are carried out at Plant A.
I have created BOM and Routing at Plant A. In the 3rd operation of the routing, i have given the work center and plant details of Plant B.
I wanted to assign the components which are required for the 3rd operation in the routing so that when i Plan for the FG, the components which are required for the 3rd operation will also get planned.
The components which are required for the 3rd operation is not avaliable in Plant A.
I am not able to give the components required for the 3rd operation (Available in Plant B) in the BOM created at Plant A.
I tried by creating Group BOM, but i am not able to assign it in the routing.
Please guide me how to plan the materials required for the operation which is carried out at other plant.
Thanks & Regards
Bala
Dear Dharma & Mukesh,
The client is not interested in increasing the no. of stages. Since it is increasing the mateiral codes and number of Shop floor activities.
Dear Sman,
The reason for why I can't maintain the material in Plant A is "a material which is not relevant to Plant A and if i maintain it in plant A, it will be displayed in the Reports like Material list in Plat and Storage location wise stock...., it will lead to unnecessary confusion.
Thanks & Regards
Bala

Bala,
I understand your concern.
But think in this way.
Lets assume that you process the 3rd operation in plant B.
As the component is assigned to operation 3, it is needed to be at plant B.
Lets not take SAP in picture, answer my question if you don't identify the component at plant B, how would you be able to process it? How would you take stock at plant B in picture?
If you go for sp. procurement 70, atleast you do not need to build the stock in plant B.
Regarding the data duplication, the client should understand that to map the queer requirement the material master is needed to maintain.
Also don't extend the material data to storage location.
Also I didn't try but create the material master in both the plant & mark for deletion in the plant where it is not required.
The system will give warning message whenever you try to use the material.
Also in the material description you can add the plant specific data. Or keep the material coding plant specific if the numbers are externally assigned.
In this situation, sp. proc. key 70 is the best suitable option with the above suggestions.
Hope this helps you.

HI
IF the material goes from Plant A to Plant B For the Production Purporse only ... then u can use the SubContracting Senerio ...

Dear Sman,
Thanks for the quick reply.
The components requied for the 3rd operation are not maintained in Plant A.
As per the requirement it should not be maintained in Plant A.
I am not able use the components available at Plant B in the BOM created at Plant A.
That's why i tried with Group BOM, but i am not able to get the group BOM components in components overview of the routing.
Please suggest me.

Bala,
To map your requirement it is necessary to maintain the components in both the plants.
When you say you can't maintain component in plant A why it's so?
With components in plant B, you can not maintain BOM in plant A.
The only solution is what I explained in my earlier reply.
One more thing, instead of material master you can maintain the sp.proc. key in item details in the BOM also. But if you go for material master then it will give control of component in plant A, which are not meant for plant A.

Hi,
Split the material into 3 material. 1st & 2nd operation combining one material say A. 3rd opn one material say B. 4th & 5th opn combined one material say C.
Material A & C are regular process as production in plant A.
Assign spl.procurement key 70 or 80 for material B in material master in plant A.
Create material master w/o spl.procurement key in plant B for material B.
Create BOM & routing also.
When you run MRP for plant A system will plan for material B also in plant B.

Dharma

Dear Bala,
Can you tell which kind of material you want to allocate?
It will be helpful if you create the stage wise routing & BOM with the refernace of Process ID number.
i.e. for first 2 operation give one material number,For 3rd operation give another material no & for the last two operation given another material number.
Create Multilevel BOM for FG.
Now create BOM & Routing in seperate Plant wuth material number.
Maintain the 1st & 2nd material in both the plant.
For 3rd operation send the 1st material with MB1B 301 M.Type to plant B,create production order,confirmed it & aganin send to plant A with same t-code & 301 M.Type.
This is the way but if you find not ok then reply back.

Mukesh

Bala,
You can use the special procurement key 70 ie.e withdrawal form another plant for component.
Lets say that you maintain the component X in BOM of FG in plant A.
In the material master of X for plant A, in MRP 2 view, maintain special procurment key as 70.
Also in follow the path to customize the the sp. proc. key as follows,
SPRO-IMG- Production-- Materials requtmnt planning- Matser data- Definf sp. procurement key.
Slect the combination of plant A & sp.proc. key 70. Click on details.
In the issuing plant mention plant B & save it.
Now in the routing for FG in plant A, give assignment of this component to the operation of plant B. Save.
Create order & cehck whether it works as per your requirement.
Hope this helps you.
