Opening of Period in MM

Dear All,

Can we open 3 period in MM.Actually we have already open periods for March and April and want to open May as well.Is it possible?

Hi

We cannot Open More than Two Periods in MM.

It will be always the current and Previous.and the other important thing is that period once closed cannot be opened again in MM.

It can be Checked in OMSY.

And the Previous period setting in MMRV.

BUt know the current month is May,

So in your System in MMRV ,if it showing the MARCH (previous) and current APRIL( Current)

if you close the Period or try to open MAY, in MMPV

it automatically close March and then your Current will be May and previous would be April

it is not possible to open the march period if u open may

u can do following ,

If you want to open previous period for reversal entry or additional entry

The following are steps for Opening previous period in MM :

1. Go to TCode SU01 (see OSS NOTES 487381)

2. Choose "change" tab with your loging Name

3. Choose "Parameter" tab

give Parameters MMPI_READ_NOTE with date format as YYYYMMDD

(say today 20071201)

4. SAVE.

5. Go to T-code MMPI

6. open the old periods which you want to post into,

Note :

the period opening will be valid for only for the particular day only.

7. Complete the posting you want to reverse or add

8. Go to MMPV to close the periods

Note :

If we enter the date or month in MMPV means we are opening that date or month by closing previous date or month

(Never use MMPV without completing the transaction in previous month)

Hi,In my case, the material ledger is active and cannot be opened for the prior period, The OSS note is added in su3, but when I use the MMPI then the system shows an error the material ledger is active; you can not initialize valuation area 1000. My material ledger activities are pending for March 2024 and also execute ML in April 2024. Please advise.

Dear Dharmveer,

Its not possible to keep open more than 2 periods at a time in the standard SAP,which is not

recommanded.

Always the current period and the previous period will be opened.

The previous period will be opened in order to post the balances or the left out for the previous period.

It is not possible to have more than two periods in force in MM. You can have current period and previous period in open only.
