Dear Community,
I would like to know if there is a way to log into SAP without having to enter my user and password every time I start up my SAP in the morning. Like is there an actual option to avoid having to log in with my data. as in, I just want to click the SAP 'icon' and be inside my menu with the Transactions (SAP T-codes). I would love to know if anybody here has managed to do that.
Request clarification before answering.
Hello,
in the past there was the possibility to create a shortcut on the system (see screenshot) and use it to start an SAP session without the need to enter user and password.

Per default the password is not stored in the shortcut. For enabling this a registry entry has to be set (dependent on your SAP GUI version, described in SAP note 146173). If your SAPLogon is using XML files instead of good old saplogon.ini, this is not possible anymore.
Another method is using Keepass (maybe there are also others), where you can store user and password and use a command line to start an SAP session. I never used it, but I saw others doing it that way. Maybe it still works...

Dear Jan,
thank you for your answer, I believe my SAP is using XML even tho I do not know exactly how to check this. I am using the shortcut for FBL1N in Windows Startup file location, so after booting my Laptop SAP will automatically start but I still have to write my password:

kinda sad they removed this possibility, but thank you for reaching out. This keepass looks hard to set up 😮
Hello sebastianorasinska,
if the SAPGUI version is >= 740 I guess the switch from saplogon.ini to XML landscape files is done (don't know if with newer SAPGUI versions using saplogon.ini is still supported). You can have a look into the SAPLogon options. If you see some XML files, there is no way to store user and password in the shortcut files.

However, maybe using Keepass is not so complicated as it looks to you on a first glance. Just scroll down to the last comment in the thread, it seems there is a working example for building the command line with the current Keepass version.
Kind regards
Jan
Hello sebastianorasinska,
ok, version 770. The option to save passwords in shortcuts will probably no longer exist in version 770.
Another possibility would be to use the sapshcut.exe file in your SAPGUI installation and pass user and password via arguments, like in this example:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPGUI\sapshcut.exe" -system=AAP -client=400 -user=johndoe -pw=mysecretpassword -command=SOSTYou can create a little text file, name it "AAP-400.cmd" and by starting it (e.g. as a desktop icon or with a double-click in the Windows explorer) the SAPGUI session will start.
However, as your credentials are not encrypted and clearly visible I would not do it without being completely sure that you will be only one having access to it. But with shortcuts - as they are also regular text files - the same problem exists.
Kind regards
Jan
