Hi All,
Freshly a SAP user, I am in charge of the preservation (SHORT, MEDIUM & LONG term) of material after reception in Warehouse (WM) before to be requested by site (PM/RLM)
So my question is:
Does SAP as a tool for generate & follow this activity (ON STOCK MATERIAL PRESERVATION as greasing axes, electrical insulation resistance measurement, bearing rotation...) different from a maintenance Work Order (Once Material is installed on production site)
Hello Alan,
For the scenario you have described, you could consider evaluating Quality Management Functionality (QM). With this, you can use inspection lots with the needed characteristics you require to evaluate the conditions of your stock in your warehouse. If the characteristic of a certain material is not "Ok", the inspection lot will make the usage decision of the item as not possible to be used in operations and it will be blocked for unrestricted use (it will become in quality review status). As soon as the item characteristic that failed has been attended, a new inspection lot can be reworked and the the usage decision will enable the item as unrestricted usage again.
This way you could control in your warehaouse what items are fit for operations and which ones are not.
Hope this helps.
Oscar.
