Offset days calculation for Performance based Maintenance Plan

Hi Team,

We have created and scheduled a performance based maintenance plan. We have entered

Annual Estimate = 1000, Cycle = 72, Last Counter Reading = 150

When we scheduled the maintenance plan we get offset days as 26. Can you please help me understand how the offset days are calculated?

We have not entered any offset value

Regards,

Jaya

Hello jaya,

Based on the details of your performance-based maintenance plan (Annual Estimate = 1000, Cycle = 72, Last Counter Reading = 150) and the standard scheduling logic in SAP, the 26 offset days are automatically calculated by the system as the expected duration to reach the next maintenance point. Here is the breakdown:

Calculation of the Offset Days
The system uses the following formula to determine the interval until the next planned maintenance date:

Calculate Daily Performance:
Daily Performance = Annual Estimate / 365
1000 / 365 ≈ 2.74 (units per day)

Determine the Next Maintenance Point:
Next Planned Counter Reading = Last Counter Reading + Cycle Length
150 + 72 = 222

Calculate the Required Days (Offset):
Offset Days = (Next Planned Counter Reading - Last Counter Reading) / Daily Performance
(222 - 150) / 2.74 ≈ 26.3 Days

The system uses this result to schedule the call object, indicating that the next maintenance is expected in approximately 26 days based on the estimated usage .

 Additional Context
Nature of this Offset: This automatically calculated "offset" represents the expected timeline. It is different from the manual offset values you can enter in a maintenance strategy to adjust the first due date of a maintenance package .

Data Accuracy: Please ensure the "Annual Estimate" accurately reflects the equipment's typical usage pattern, as it directly impacts the scheduling accuracy.

I hope this clarifies how the system derives the value. Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best regards,
