ODBC Connection Between SAP ECC and Excel

Dear Colleagues,

I am wondering if it is possible to connect Excel to the SAP ECC 6.0 Database using ODBC and how to do it.

I know it is possible in S/4 HANA. I remember once installing an ADD-ON to Excel, establishing a connection using a user and a password and being able to use some datasets in Excel. 

Any advice would be really appreciated.
