In standard SAP S/4 HANA Cloud Public Edition system, we have standard order types for asset management/plant maintenance (YA01 - YA05) and system does not allow us to create new or edit these. Somehow this is managable and customer's processes are mapped in the system. There is only 1 notification type in standard system, when we create a maintenance request a notification is created and there is no configuration available in the system to create different notification types. This is customer's requirement to have different notification types so how can we handle that in the system? Do we have to go for customization? If yes, then how should we address this issue?
If all notifications are created through create maintenance request app, can we create different variants of the screen for different notification types or add a drop down field where we can select notification type for each type of service needed? The default notification type is Y1 Reactive Work.

For phase based maintenance we have two notification types Y1 &Y2. With the current SAP S/4HANA cloud public edition, it is not yet possible to create custom notification types.
Yes default notification type is Y1 but you can adapt UI for app Create Maintenance Request to have the notification type field in the screen where you can choose the notification type while creating the maintenance request.
