Nest SUs in standard WM

In the SAP book, "Maximize Your Warehouse Operations with SAP ERP" (from 2009), section 2.2.4 discusses how to created a delivery with nested HUs. I was able to created a nested HU structure in my inbound delivery but had a problem retaining a nested structure WM after performing the goods receipt. Since this is a 'Warehouse for ERP' book, I assumed the nested HU structure from the delivery could be brought into WM. However, the book does not discuss that aspect and I have been unable to find a way to create any sort of nested SU/HU structure in ECC WM. Does anyone know if this is possible?

If not, I guess I'm curious why SAP could outline a nested HU structure in a WM book in the first place?
