I am starting a new thread for discussions related to MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling).
I found few scattered threads here and there with lot of unanswered questions and hence thought it would be nice to have thread everyone can find answers to their questions.

To begin with lets understand the business requirement for which MRS is developed.
In a typical plant maintenance scenario, PM or service orders are created. The work of these orders have to be completed by technicians.
If there are huge number of orders coming in then it really becomes a task to decide who works on what and from what time to what time. Solution is MRS.
Moreover, not everyone is skilled to complete each type of task .Tasks with special skill requirements can only be completed by a skilled resource. For e.g. if a machine breaks down, not any Tom-dick-harry can repair it. To search for a particular skill from the resource pool of hundreds of resources (taking into consideration the availability of the resource) can be a tricky task. Solution is MRS.
The graphical planning board makes MRS easy to use. There are hundreds of features and options available at a click of mouse.
MRS becomes a really powerful solution because it can be integrated with other modules of R/3 viz PM(Plant maintenance); PS(Project systems); HR. It could also be deployed on CRM, R3, DBM systems.
This is a very brief introduction about MRS. Now the thread is open for questions.

I am trying to learn about MRSS (I am a PM Consultant) and by several days cannot to see the documentation in the SAP Service Marketplace as you had previously recommended.
This is the message:

Populating values in the Demand Header fields on the Demand Display
Hi, I understand we can populate the fields in the Demand Items usng BADI /MRSS/RSG_PM_INT and updating the values in the table CT_INFO. However if I also want to populate the 'same' field of the demand header, how do I go about doing it?
As an illustration, the field 'DEMAND' has values both on the header line and item line, but the field 'Priority' only has values on the demand item lines. If I want to populate the Priority value on the demand header line as well, is this possible?

I have a small query regarding Workschedule. I have created a workschedule and inthat I maintained a break schedule of 30min and I have assigned this workschedule to an employee. I can see the timings in the planningboard as per my workschedule. My requirement is to greyed ou the break period 30min in planningboard. how to do it?

Currently I am looking for success stories of the PS Integration with either one or all process variants. Which was the first MRS Version having the PS integration in scope, do you remember that? Just to find some official documentation of SAP.

Also we have to choose a software for workforce Management. We need to know whether it should be MRS or WFM Core. Which one would be better. The scenario is to manage Field Service Staff and their schedules and optimise them for nearly 5000 personnel based on their skillset and availability. The resource needs will come out of CRM Service Orders.
Also what added functionality does Clicksoftware offer, which MRS or WFM Core does not offer.

We are implementing the MRS solution with MRSS 200
Level 006
Support Package : SAPK-20006INMRSS
R/3 4.6.
I completed the base iine configuration fo the MRS with the following configuration settings as detailed in the MRS 200 config document.
- Work Center Profile
- Check Profile
- Alert Profile
- UI profile ( Since we are not using the UI portal for MRS, hope this is not needed for the planning board profile)
I also created the resource planning board profile and updated the same with the work center profile / Check profile and Alert profile.
In addition to the above I mapped the plant maitenance order types with the export function module and the operation control key PM01.
Since we are integrating HR module with the MRS I activated the HR active check box.
In the WFM core I defined the Logical system and RFC destination.
For the WFM core business setting , I defined the time specification types and assigned them to the resource types.Defined the dispatcher and trategies for WFM.
Based on the recommended config settings documents for MRS release 200, I completed the configuration of the above settigns.
Then I executed the program for transfering the MRS status to WFM core.
I executed the transaction /MRSS/WFM_HR for completing interface transfer between HR > WFM core.

/MRSS/PLBOORGM - Planning board for org.units and
/MRSS/PLBOSRV - Resource planning for the service orders , I am getting the following message as "Planning board profile not found" - Message Number : /MRSS/SGE031.
Any help or inputs are highly apprecaited.
Also does any one has the MRS release config document for the release 200.

Hallo to all,
are client decided to go for MRSS800 recently and has the requirement of automatic assignment creation. I have already customized MRSS qualifications as well as Control Automatic Assignment Creation and Define Search Strategy for Automatic Assignment Creation.
The MRSS qualifications are maintained in the MRSS personnel views, using catalogs and matrices and MRSS demands are maintenance orders.
My resources do have qualifications as well as also my demands, and using the Suitable Resources option, the matrix appears with structured qualifications 100% for some resources and 0% for others.
However, when trying the automatic assignment creation, I receive the following error msg
Auto.assignmt creation for demand ...../0010 failed; no suitable resource found
Under the Search Strategy Definition, item level views have been defined, however it is not clear from any documentation I have read until now what each Resource Determination does.
Any ideas what might be missing?

Hi All,
We are in using MRS EHP4 version.
We are getting an error message "No work center found for resource" when we are trying to assign the resource to a Demand manually.
We have checked the work center and HRMS assignment and every thing looks fine.
Can any body through some light on this?

We are using customer fields in the worklist of the planning board. The values of the customer-fields are determined dynamically with a customer class for interface /MRSS/IF_SGE_WL_ATT. So far, this works well. Now we are using the user-exits for customer-functions in the menu of the planning board to change demand data. After this, i would like to refresh the worklist, so the values of the customer-fields are newly determined. how can I do this? I tried the refresh-methods of class /MRSS/CL_SGE_APPLICATION_PLB, but they didn't do it...

I am not sure, if I understood correctly, but you change the customer fields from the planning board, which are originally integrated from the order, right? After changing them, from the planning board they are not refreshed in the worklist?
Have you checked if the changes you made were back integrated into the user fields of the service order? If that is the case, then it should be visible in the planning board after refreshing. If not make sure, that the integration of the customer fields from the order takes place after changing the fields and not only for initial change!

The customer-fields exist only in the worklist, their data is not stored at all. They contain additional information regarding the history of the demand status and are used for display in the planning board only. (e.g.: "customer status xy was set for this demand before by user z but is inactive now"). There is no corresponding data field for these informations connected to the service order, so the data is not written back to PM.
I am using interface /MRSS/IF_SGE_WL_ATT to determine the values of the customer fields.
The method /MRSS/IF_SGE_WL_ATT~ATTRIBUTES_DETERMINE is called when starting the planning board and also when I push the 'refresh' button in the planning board. After the method has been called the customer-fields of the worklist are filled correctly. What I am looking for is: How can I refresh the worklist (call method /MRSS/IF_SGE_WL_ATT~ATTRIBUTES_DETERMINE) from the customer-exits (customer buttons in the menu) of the planning board?

So basically your intention is to get the worklist refreshed including the additional information, right. My understanding is, that it is necessary to perform a refresh of the planning board. If you enter the planning board, do "your fields" contain the correct data? So a restart of the planning board leads to the correct refresh of the fields?
Do you use the "delta refesh"?

You're right. The intention is to refresh the worklist afer execution of a customer exit in the menu.
The SAP standard fields in the worklist are refreshed after the customer exit, but not the customer fields of the worklist.
A restart of the planning board leads to the correct data in the customer fields in the worklist and also when I push the 'refresh' button in the planning board, the customer fields contain the correct data afterwards.
I am sorry, I am not familiar with the 'delta refresh', could you please explain or lead me to the documentation?

funny enough, there is no proper documentation of the delta refresh available (that was a few month ago. SAP sais, demands are refreshed, when you use it, but your description sounds to me, that this does not work out if you enhance the worklist, right? Have you tried to debug?
But in your description it seems to be obvious, that it is a refresh problem, because if you manually refresh or re-enter the planning board, things are displayed the correct way, aren´t they. To my understanding you want a refresh to be executed automatically after using the customer exit, right? I am not sure, if this is possible, because this could be really performance intensive!
Who is you implementation partner on the project? Are you located somewhere in D-A-CH...?

so far, I did not debug the problem to the full extend.
I had a brief look and realized, that the method ATTRIBUTES_DETERMINE (that determines the values of the customer fields) is called when I enter the planning board, as well as when I push the refresh button in the planning board, but is not called after the customer exit. The standard fields of the worklist are refreshed after the customer exit.
I do not really have a implementation partner in this project. We are located in Munich, Germany.
If you suspect this could be a general problem and not just mine : Do you think I should pose the question in an OSS call?

My user is facing an issue in MRS .
Work order no will only come to the planning board when explicitly entered in the demand field. And when i try to schedule it, the message appears " work center of demand is not assigned to organization unit " .This Work Center has been attached to its Org Unit for a long time and it is active. Can i know how this could have been disconnected. Is there any thing i can check in the table HRP1001.

hard to say how the workcenter was disconnected, but did you try to check, if the workcenter is still linked to a node on the planning structure (by using IR02 -> HMRS)?
Check if the workcenter is really used in the order and then check where you sent the demand to by using transaction /MRSS/PLBOSRV.

We have recently upgraded from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 also we are using MRS release 700. From iw39 list of order from the menu Goto we have multiresource scheduling , but when select the multi resource scheduling it is not responding. Do we need to do any confuguration settings.

My MRS experience has primarily been with C-Projects and Service Management/Plant Maintenance Demands. I have worked with CRM service orders but am unfamiliar with the following system limitation.
Given that once CRM demands are transferred to the Planning Board, the demand cannot be changed; will this preclude the client to not be able to perform the ability to add parts, change the customer name, phone #, site #'s s/n and contract information, date commit, service level response time and problem descriptions. How would they do this in MRS? Do we have to customize MRS to provide this capability or is SAP developing a BADI which would allow changes to the service order to be made after it is transferred to the Planning Board?

Hello All,
We are implementing MRS 800 on an existing PM solution. I need help in the following issues related to automatic assignment creation:
1) We have activated the integration from HR to SAP Multiresource Scheduling Basis. We have defined the HR Info Types which are mapped against Time Allocation Types (absences included). We use the program /MRSS/HCM_RPTWFMIF to transfer HR allocation information to MRS. This part seems that work fine.
In the Planning Board Profile customizing we have the following parameters in "Automatic Assignment split" area: Min duration =1 m, Max. Overtim Hours = 1 min, Max % = 0%, Max. Difference = 240 hours. (IMG-> SAP Multiresource Scheduling > Set Up Scheduler Workplace> Workplace profiles> Define Planning Board Profile)
We execute the transaction code: /MRSS/PLBOTIME (Scheduler Workplace) and we can view the demands and time allocations. We execute a semi-automatic assignment creation manually. The system schedules the operation selected but it has taken into account non-working time (grey areas).
Question: We would like that the system does not take into account non-working time and If an assignment exceeds the normal working time (plus overtime) of a personnel resource the system splits the assignment take into account only working time. Is it possible? How can I get this described behavior? Is that desired behavior depending on the Planning Board Profile parameters defined?
2) To determine the operations for which the system plans assignments automatically we can enter combinations of plant,order type, maintenance activity type, sales organization, and user status in customizing.
Is it possible to plan assignments automatically for a specific work center? We would like that for an operation assigned to a specific work center, the system creates an assignment with a specific personal resource (Work center: ELECTRIC -> personal resource: Vall Gaudí Serafí). Is it possible with standard customizing? If not, does it exista FM (function module) to get it?
3) Within the search strategy (customizing) you can set Type of availability determination. What is the main difference between Capacity-Based and Slot-Based Availability determination?

I need help in the following issues related to optimizer and travel time:
1) How can I maintain the table /MRSS/D_GEO_ZIP (Postal code table)for Geo-coordinates data that would be required to calculate distance and travel time. I was able to get the travel time when i maintain /MRSS/D_ADDRESS table but it has too many entries that cannot be maintained manually.
2) When i run the optimizer
a) the log from Planning board does not show anything. The customizing for optimizer log is done but still it does not.
b) when I see the log from SLG1 transaction, it shows a warning that the resource has no availability. what could possibly be the mistake.
It would great help if we get this sorted.

I am working for IS OIL & GAS client and recently the client has decided to implement the MRS solution. Being a PM consultant my company wants me to work on the MRS solution. So based on that I have couple of questions:
1. What are the basic data that should exist in SAP ECC 6.0 so that MRS can be made functional?
2. What are the additional activities other than regular PM that needs to be performed at SAP PM end to make it compatible with MRS.
3. Is there any link or document that provides overview of SAP MRS and help in understanding the functionalities that can be achieved?

You can find the information that you need at the SAP Service Marketplace. Browse the Software Download Center. You will find Multi Resource Scheduling in the Application Components under the Download Catalog.
Also, for integrating PM and MRS, kindly refer the note 1380802 which explains how to integrate PM with MRS. This note comes into picture AFTER MRS is installed. It has some related notes as well to get you started.
As for the documentation, you will get the same in the SAP Service Marketplace.
In addition to the above, if you still need to get a visual outlook on MRS, you can go to Youtube and check out the user SAPMRSExpert's channel:

I want to know why do you want to create a new thread. This thread is long but useful. Creating a new thread will not change anything as soon it will run into page. In fact it will become more complicated to keep rack of number of threads.
In my opinion this thread should remain and we should avoid creating any new threads.

Agreed creating a new thread does not solve the purpose, but it is a temporary solution.
I intend to create a new section for MRS so that we do not have to rely on this single thread itself.
i will have to communicate to the moderators about this and find an appropriate section (As you are aware, from MRS 700, MRS is de-coupled into Netweaver and ERP).
After this, instead of having a single thread, we can create new threads for new discussions.

Does anybody know how to (backward) integrate resources in CS-orders in MRS 7.0?
On a MRS 700 with support package 5 (SAPK-70005INMRSS) installed system, I try to set up the Backward Integration, so that the operation in the Service Orders will be updated with the recourse and date details which are planned in the MRS planning board.
I created an configured a u201CWork Center of Technicianu201D
sample, how to set this up from Configuration Guide for SAP Multiresource Scheduling Release 7.0 SP04:
Resource with pers.no. 1169
1. Logistic work center WC_1169
Create a logistic work center (Transaction IR01)
2. HR Work center HR_1169
Create a HR work center (Transaction PO01)
3. Relationships of HR_1169
Create the following relations:
A 008 Holder P 00001169
A 061 Equals LA 10000033 (= object ID of WC_1169 to be found using F4-help)
In MRS/IMG
-Activate Backward Integration of Data and
-Activate 1:1 Relationship of Assignments and Demands for Demand Categories
But with these settings in donu2019t see any demand (orders) in the planning board.
And I cannot select recourse in IW31/32 in the orders ->operations->reqmnts Assignments.
Orders linked to a u2018Work Center with resource planning nodeu2019 I see the demands (service orders) in the planning-board. But there is no backward integration for these orders.
I used the default settings in u2018Define Resource Planning Nodes and Evaluation Pathsu2019 from Configuration Guide. And maybe I have to change settings here, but this is not clear for me, and this is not mentioned in the config guide.
What check of settings can I do more?

You are not able to see the demands created in IW31 in the planning board. Am I right in my understanding?
Does anybody know how to (backward) integrate resources in CS-orders in MRS 7.0?
If you cannot see the demand in the planning board in the first place, how can you expect any backward integration to take place.
So, first things first. Are you able to see the demand in MRS planning board or not?

Depending on your system, select either ERP or Netweaver. For now, you can select the documentation based on ERP.
When the documentation opens, you can navigate to the following section in the documentation:
Master Data
-> Sap Multi Resource Scheduling Master Data
-> Data Transfer.
This will tell you everything that you need to know about HR - MRS integration.

Hi,
I need help on authorisation/config to disallow users to change the resource planning time in PLBOORG. Meaning they can only assign the time based on the demand, but will not allow the users to adjust the time needed.
Is this a config or authorisation to do this?

Hi,
I am doing MRS for a client. They require a BADI to be implemented /MRSS/RSG_DEMAND_ADRESS_GET.
This is used for getting the ship to party instead of sold to party in the demand details menu of Planing Board.
I'm getting a problem because this BADI is not gettin triggered when i' using the T-Code - /MRSS/PLBOORG.

BAdi /MRSS/RSG_DEMAND_ADRESS_GET will not be triggered from the planning board transactions. This will be triggered during order integration, and this address will be stored in MRS tables. Later address will be taken from this table by Planning Board transactions. If you want to integrate the address again for already transferred orders, please save the order once
again from PM.

No. You need not have to fill the table /MRSS/D_ADDRESS manually. The implementation of the BADI /MRSS/RSG_DEMAND_ADRESS_GET will result in automatic population of the table, provided valid address details exist for the demand.
Since you dont populate the table manually, you need not worry about the OBJECT_KEY and ADDRESS_GUID fields.

Yes got to know when I was working with this. It does result in automatically generated OBJECT_KEY.
So was able t successfully implement this

I'd like to implement MRS on an existing PM solution. Starting this, I gathered a list of questions.
1) Is it possible to reuse existing work centers? (We have a flat work center hierarchy and each work center has multiple personnel numbers assigned. This means a HR work center already exists for this Logistics Work Center. However, (it seems that) the HR work center can not be used as a resource planning node...)
2) Is it a requirement to have a 1-1 relationship between work center and personnel number? (This is very related with the question above)
3) Is it possible to work with splits in stead of copying operations? (I have an IDES version set up in which the operation work center is used to make the assignment --> can we use splits? I've found that splits can be recognized by MRS by activating the integration of splits in customizing, but can MRS also create splits itself?)
4) I noticed that there are many planning bords available...which are them and what are they used for?
5) Orders immediately appear in the planning board, can this be controlled by status? (now status EMRS is set at creation)
6) How to integrate HR absences in the utilization report? (The available capacity is not impacted by the absence of a technician)
7) Priority/urgency: is it possible to show descriptions in stead of codes? (these are shown in the ALV, but depending on the customizing different order types might have different priorities assigned to the same code (e.g. value 1 can be 'Immediately', but for another order type it could be 'within 2 weeks')
Can you assign PRTs as a resource to a planning node? (device X is always used by work center Y)

I 'm trying to get MRS working on our internal Demo System. In the very basic it is working; demands and resources are displayed on the planning board and the demands can be assigned.
But not all demands are displayed on the planning board.
Demands that are not displayed in transaction /MRSS/PLBOORG are operations from a PM-order with in the PM-orderheader another (main) work center (eg. MECHANIC) than the work center of the operation (eg. ELECTRIC). When I create a new PM-order with in the header and operation work center ELECTRIC the demand comes up in the planning board.
Can anyone help.

Good morning folks, one of our biggest problems is having to reschedule multiple/many orders operations due to emergency schedule breaks, employee call ins and what ever else pops up. There has never been functionality to do this before,, or so I've been told.
This morning when I was in MRS looking for something else I noticed a menu path item for the first time: "Mass Change of Orders". I found this by: in the Demands List, right mouse click on a assigned operation, down at the bottom of the menu path display box there it is.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this mass change functionality on it's way?, is it here?, is the menu path item a mistake that was supposed to be removed from view?.
The users are getting extremly frustrated at having to process each and every assignment individually to reschedule. Any help or advice is appreciated.

None of the MRS authorization objects offers this kind of limitation.

Looking for some guidance please. We've been delivered Service resource scheduling in CRM 7 - RPA but have found some major issues with it and have been pointed at MRS 7 sp3 as a possible 'better option'.
Basically we are a day-rate business scheduling staff on work from 2hours (1/4 day) to 100+ days, with multiple people (and different skills) on the same service order. We have found that RPA can schedule a block of days but the time is recognised in elapsed hours (we have HR integrated but dont have work schedules configured??) when we book time against the demand and need to invoice the confirmation takes the whole service through NOT the worked days part of the service.
We need to quickly schedule jobs for many 100's of resources, move, split and change or reallocate - hopefully through drag and drop.
Ideally we would like to see the work schedule by resource or by client/customer with enough detail in a gantt to allow decision based changes.
Sorry to have a long list (we do have a longer one!) but I'm trying to recover options and don't want to waste another six months with the totally wrong product.
We have also looked at Clicksoftware but it appears more suited to mobile workforces (field engineers?) with very short allocations.

I have started to work recently on MRS project, implementing MRS 700 SP03.
Currently I am trying to go through the configuration process and set up the "Resource Planning Nodes & Evaluation Paths", but the screenshots and the information provided in the Configuration Guide is completely different from the layout of the "Resource Planning Nodes & Evaluation Paths" in my SAP (screenshots attached [here|http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/9596/mrsevaluationpaths.jpg])
The table presented in the guide has only 22 fields and it is divided into 6 sections(basic obj. types, authorizations etc.), and the one I have in my SAP includes 34 fields without any sections. The guide does not specify how to fill in the remaining 12 fields, so I am able to complete only first 22. I am using scenario R/3
I have been using "Configuration Guide for SAP Multiresource Scheduling" ver.3.0, Release 7.0 SP03, the BB Config Guide 261, as well as the article "Define RP Node and Evaluation paths" from abaplearning.com, but none of them covers all the fields required in my SAP.
Question:
1. Has anybody faced the same issue with MRS? If yes, could you please give me any advice how to fill in all 34 fields.
2. Is there any newer release of the MRS Config Guide than v3.0, or a BB Config Guide 261?

I assume you mean that you are running program /mrss/hcm_rptwfmif. I think of it has updating the data rather than deleting. That's a priciple reason for running this program on a regular basis. Is that a problem?

I'm involved in a MRS 610 implementation as a project manager and want to get a better understanding of MRS
We use a separate SAP client to feed the HR data to our PM/MRS client. We use report RPTLRPIF to transfer the availabilities of the employees.
If we run the report daily (to reflect the changes in employees' availabilities) it seems that this report is deleting the previously interfaced data. So day 1 we run the report for the period day 1-10. On day 2 we run the report for the period of day 2-11. Now the availability data of the days 2-10 is deleted. Is this how this report is designed?

I have a couple of questions:
1. I want to be able to split MRS into dual screens. The only way that we know how to do this is to just drag the bottom right part of the SAP screen into the next screen.
I will ideally like it to be a true dual screen setup rather than dragging it, where there are two windows open in each monitor. Is there any way to do this?
2. On the demand context sensitive menu (when you right click a demand), you go to Change Document --> Long Text of Log. This option appears to be only available for Networks - is this true? How do I enable this functionality to be used with Service Orders as well?

We are implementing SAP MRS with integrated with SAP PM/CS with PTV for geocoding information. However, we have received no documentation and have no idea how PTV works. Does anyone have any information about PTV? I have tried looking on SAP website but no luck so far. Also there is no information in PTV either.
