Hi Experts,
I am working with project systems using Q stock. When I move Q stock into a none MRP relevant storage location the stock is still used and netted in the MRP calculation. The storage location is set to none relevant in OMIR, and also in the materials MRP4, I noticed the same behavior with E stock. Is it simply that the special stock indicator is considered prior to the storage location, or is it something I can control. The reason I don't want to drop the stocks into unrestricted is because we use generic materials in project stock and for E stock we are heavy VC users and the materials mean nothing once their link to the project/sales order is lost. I want to be able to keep the link to the project/sales order while quality decisions made but to start the replanning process, specifically with lower level requirements

Jez

Hello Jez
This is the standard behavior.
Both project stock and storage location planned separately or excluded from MRP are special stock segments and a planning element can only belong to one specific special stock segment.
Therefore, it is not possible to have a storage location planned separately on a project stock.
The workaround here is to use an MRP area. Generally, individual stocks are only possible on the plant MRP area, however, you can use the business function OPS_PS_CI_1 in the project system to achieve a work breakdown structure (WBS) account assignment on MRP area level.

Hi Caetano, I have the Business Function "OPS_PS_CI_1" active in my S4Hana system. I have a Network reservation for a material code for a storage location assigned to a specific MRP area, but still (when I run MD04) I see this reservation below the Plant:
and not below the MRP AREA:
Can you suggest me what else I can check?
Thanks,
Hi both,
so firstly Ramagiri, I do have the individual collective set to '1', but I need this as I do want the stock to be Q stock. The material generally acts as we'd like, the problem is purely that when the stock is in a none MRP relevant location, it is still counted as relevant by the MRP run.
Caetano, I am interested in your idea. We have OPS_PS_CL_1 activated and already have MRP area's active in our plants (typically tied to sample storage locations). I am not sure how we can use these MRP area's to help in this instance though. You talked about assigning an MRP area to a WBS element. I had a look in CJ20N but couldn't see where you would do this, and even if I could am not sure how you would use this to remove certain stocks from the MRP run (Note we could have half the stock for a WBS element in an MRP relevant location and half in a none relevant location).
I tried reading the notes you attached but they don't really help me understand the details of what you are suggesting. My experience with MRP areas is limited to simply setting special procurement keys and reorder points etc (basic MRP1/2 stuff) specific to a storage location in the plant, so may well be missing the bigger picture as to what they can do. Do you have any further info, or links that could help me.

Jez

Hi Jez
The MRP area is not assigned to a WBS, it is assigned to a storage location.
On the standard system, if you have a WBS individual stock, it will be always displayed on the plan MRP area, even when it is assigned to a storage location that belongs to a storage location MRP area.
After the activation of this business function, however, the WBS individual stock can be displayed under a storage location MRP area.

Hi Caetano,
again thanks for the input, I had high hopes but unfortunately is still not yielding the results I am looking for. I can see the stock in the MRP area in MMBE, however it is still visible in MD04 as stock tied to the project and MRP nets it against the demand. I tried setting the plan type in the MRP area to ND and resetting the SLOC MRP indicator on MRP4 back to '1' after assigning the MRP area (as it complained when I tried to add it while initially set to '1') but all to no avail.
Starting to suspect SAP does not want us to operate this way,

Jez
Hi Caetano,
I agree, but as MRP area alone wasn't working so I was clutching at straws. No mater what I do MRP is accounting for this stock. Am ready to declare it "not possible" and look at removing the on-hold stock from Q (or E) special stock status, and manually keeping track of what the stock actually is. I appreciate your help on this matter,
Cheers,
Jez
Hi Jez,
Are u maintaining Ind/coll as 1 in MRP 4 view for materials?
Thanks & Regards,
Ramagiri
