Hello,
Our current return to vendor process involves marking the Return Check Box on the PO in TCode ME22n. Then creating the return delivery; which uses movement type 161. However, we would like to return from restricted stock (Q) and someone has suggested using movement 124. I can't find any documentation that tells me the major differences between 161 and 124. Differences such as what TCode uses which? Does 161 get used automatically when you us ME22n/Return Check box combo and 124 get used when you use MIGO? Is there accounting docs that get generated with one and not the other?
Regards,
Jt

Hi,
161- Returns for PO (Flag the return check box in PO using ME22N)...you know the correct process.
124-Return delivery from GR Blocked stock ( T code MIGO,but change the Mvt type 124 on the right side)
122-return from Vendor (MIGO and choose return delivery from drop down)
Please note that 124- returns from GR blocked stock not the "Q"-Quality inspection stock.GR blocked stock is not valuated in SAP while blocked stock is valuated.
Hope it clarifies..

Dear,
I don't think that you would be able to use newly created Mvt type for the returns 122 & 161 as system automatically picks them up when you follow the steps.if you check in OMJJ -->Allowed Transactions, you will find MIGO for all three mvt types 122,124,161 butI don't see any setting which links return indicator in PO with mvt type.Sorry, I have not tried yet. However, you can make a try by copying a new mvt type.

Thanks,

system will automatically pick up 161 & 122 when you post MIGO.It is hard coded in your words.if you want to create new mvt type you can copy them using OMJJ t code.

Thank you Both.
vineet,
Can these movement types be reconfigured? For instance, can mvt type 124 be used when return box is check in ME22N? Or are these movement type hard code to the transactions?
Thanks

Hi,
161 is used for returns against a purchase order whereas 124 is to returm material from GR block stock
For returns against purch order - when u recieve goods by Mvt 101 the return material itself gets posted by 161 as issued to vendor
whereas fr GR blovk stock - u recieve material by Mvt type 103 that is a non valuated stock and u return it from there via 124 . GR block stock is non valuated

Hi,
161 movement type is used for sending the materials to vendor, for which you are unable to trace out the reference doc of GR. For that purpose we will create the purchase order with returns check box, so that when u do the GR with respect to the particular PO it will take the 161 movement automatically.
124 is for the Return deliveries from the quality inspection stock, this movement will be taken when we are doing return deliveries with respect to the material document.
And let me know that 'Q' is project stock?
