I have a couple of questions concerning S/4HANA Cloud - single tenant edition:
1.) Is SAP Gateway, or something close to it, included with S/4HANA Cloud - single tenant edition?
2.) Is applying releases ever mandatory for S/4HANA Cloud - single tenant edition? If not, how difficult/costly would it be to catch up if an SAP customer were to fall a few years behind?
3.) Can a standard S/4HANA Cloud STE Fiori app be extended using SAP Web IDE on SAP Cloud Platform (or personal edition)?
Request clarification before answering.

1. ) In S4HC, we use communication system & scenario for 3rd party system connection.
2. ) This is optional in STE in current STE version. But, in future, this would change as mandatory upgrade. The cost and complexities of the upgrade depends on the classic customization and configuration.
3. ) In SCP, it can only build the new app with the released APIs. If you would like to extend the standard Fiori app, the only option is in-app extensibility but the flexibility depends on the standard enhancement points in Custom Logic & Fields.

Very interesting to see your point about the move to mandatory upgrade - as the direction of travel over the past year or so seems to have been backing off over the upgrade requirement.
Does this mean that there are automated testing tools on the way for STE (similar to what you currently get in MTE) that might help to make a regular upgrade cycle a less costly process?
Hi Simon
With regards to point 2) things have obviously moved on since FKOM. Upgrades are now mandatory only within a two year period of the release of the S/W.
With regards to point 3) can you please clarify what you mean by released API's? my understanding was that Developing in SCP also means creating API's outside the whitelists (which up til now is far behind its maturity than PI/PO).
Thanks
Adil

With a private cloud (also known as STE, single tenant edition), services are maintained on a private network protected by a firewall. You can build a private cloud within your own data center or subscribe to one hosted by a vendor. Private clouds offer the most security and control.
