minimum hardware requirements of Sap S/4 hana 1909 Fully Activated Appliance for On-Premise

Hi Experts,

I am new to SAP and I have some question regarding to the infrastructure and installation of SAP System. What is the minimum hardware and other requirements for the configuration and installation of standard usage for sap s/4 hana 1909 Fully Activated Appliance on On-Premise since I am not choosing Cloud Providers like AWS and AZURE. Your answers and knowledge are highly appreciated.

Hello May,

this is described in the "First Steps..." guide attached to SAP Note 2041140.

I have copied the relevant section below. Please also note that you need x86_64 hardware (with a supported Linux release installed e.g. SLES or RedHat).
IBM Power hardware is not supported for a local on-prem installation of the appliance.

* These minimum requirements will be sufficient for small / midsize projects, but you might be limited in your availability to grow. You can also deploy HANA and ABAP server on the same host (256 GB RAM will suffice for small projects, add CPU power accordingly).

The separate pre-installation of the HANA DB is not needed since HANA is part of the appliance.

Hi,

Does one have to use a specific version of SLES?

I am currently working on the S4/HANA 1909 fully activated appliance installation - using Linux SLES 15 - I am experience problems with the HDB processors (the Index processor is Red - not starting up.)

I ran the below command as as a prerequisite for HANA before starting the system rename :

/hana/shared/HDB/hdblcm/hdblcm --action=register_rename_system

Once the above had completed - I ran the below to check the processors:

/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapcontrol -nr 02 -function GetProcessList

Please see image for process errors and advise ?
