Dear SAP Support,

We're trying to upload the XML template files of some Migration Objects in the Migration Cockpit, but during the uploads, we're getting some errors saying that files with more than 100 MBs aren't accepted, as the error message below:

  • Upload canceled. Please make sure each file is smaller than 100 megabytes.

As the XML template files we're trying to upload indeed have more than 100 MBs, could you explain:

  • How can we upload XML template files with more than 100 MBs to the Migration Cockpit?

We're using SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, if it matters. Thanks for the support!

Best regards,
Data migration expert team

Dear experts,

As stated by the Migration Cockpit app, the official limit for XML template file sizes is indeed 100 MBs, but there are a few ways to upload files larger than that. To summarize and list them below, the template files can be:

  1. Compressed in zip folders to reduce the data, and thus, the size they occupy.
  2. Split in multiple, smaller files.
  3. Sent with more than 100 MBs of data by changing the parameter icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB in the system (only appliable to SAP S/4HANA On-Prem and Cloud Private Edition systems).

As stated above, the first solution would be to simply compress such templates in zip folders. Zipping files compresses the data contained in them, and thus, reduces the amount of MBs they occupy.

The second solution would be to split such templates in multiple, smaller XML files. To help with that, in KBA 2719524, SAP provides a link to a file splitter tool made exclusively to help split large XML Migration Object template files.

The third and last solution listed, which is only appliable to SAP S/4HANA OP and Cloud Private Edition systems, involves editing some system parameters to increase file size limit of the app. Further explanation about this can also be found in the KBA 2719524.

I hope this helps with your query and good luck with your future Migration Projects!

Best regards,
SAP Support
