Hi
I have a customer running approx 7 separate legal entities (7 sep databases) at the moment. They are having problems / complaints from their users logging in and out of the db in order to process data. These company db are all in the one country but some have different local currencies (end users login from overseas) -
They wish to merge the companies into one database, using BP prefixes to define Bp's relevant to each company and link individual control accounts to each BP to track Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Deloittes have given them the okay to have an out of balance balance sheet etc., (they say they will tidy things up at the end)
Item GL Setup will be done at Item Level only so a separate set of GL Codes can be defined for each Item Code -- companies do not sell the same type of items.
I am not keen for them to do this for many reasons however - has anyone who has been working with SBO for a number of years out there already done this with success.......Version 2007A .....
Thanks
It will be different if you start from scratch or build them afterward.
You need to make sure customer understand pros and cons for both methods. Something would not be available anymore when they merge all databases into one.
Especially for user authorization, it will be headache in case they need user level authorization.
Thanks,
Gordon

Hi Gordon
Thanks -- you're right there --- I've already discussed the user authorisation, BP authorisation - e.g. are they happy for all users to see all Business Partners, GL Accounts, Inventory Items, etc., and they are not worried.
They have already built a db themselves and completed a number of transactions to test the GL Integration works effectively and they are happy so far but I have this feeling that somewhere down the track this will not work and they should be looking at the Intercompany module from CitiXSys to complete what they want to.

I have done an implementation with the similiar scenarios, but how we did is we used the third party add on "inter company solution" from citixsys. There web site is http://www.citixsys.com/
I think your client need this add on.

Thank you for your reply Tahir but this does not answer the question. I am aware of CitiXSys solution however the customer at the moment is determined to do this in one database only. This was the question I asked - if anyone had done this sort of install / setup using only one database.
