MD01 Creates Prs, MD02 generates Schedule Lines

Hello Experts,

MRP runs in the background with MDBT variant with parameters 1 3 1 1 1. For the components, there is scheduling agreement and source list with correct validity dates.

After the background job it creates Purchase requisitions even though we have schedule agreement, source lists with correct validity dates and target quantities is less than required quantity.

The weird thing is it Schedule Lines when I run MD02 manually on the item.

We do not use any MRP group or scope of planning.

MD01 and MD02 ran with the exact same parameters, but we see different results.

Would someone be able to explain this behavior?

Thanks,

Parth

Thank you, Caetano. The blog you wrote is really helpful.

We don't use MRP groups, but seems like when the plants were copied they let the MRP group setting from parent plants sit.

We have the plant-specific configuration for external procurement for schedule lines.

We use custom material type and we have multiple MRP groups with no co-relation to material type. I guess I need to find the source of the custom material type.

So for Total Planning does SAP look at MRP Group first, then Plant Parameters and if it does not find anything then it would look at the creation indicator?

I'll check the configuration as per the note: 23922 along with removing MRP groups. I'll test and confirm soon. Thanks again- Parth

I have tested with MRP groups and Plant Parameters. We had MRP group which were not being used in material master and the MRP group had no relation with Material type.

The external procurement configuration at plant level had option 2 chosen for Scheduling lines with 0 days as an opening period. I fixed that indicator and it seems to create lines as required. Thanks again Caetano for your help.
