Material Master Data

Hi,

I have a query regarding material master unit of measure data.

We are creating material master data through workflow. Base unit of measure is let say CASE. On data entry screen there is field which capture "no of packs in multipacks" and there is another field which captures "no of multipacks for a case". Data captured in this screen will go to and create material master data.

I want to capture "no of packs in multipacks" data in material master additional( i.e under basic data 1 ) data screen. Here alternate unit of measure will be multipack and base unit will remain case. I want to know in which field in mm03 i can pass this data so that it can come in additional data tab of MM03

Base Unit -          1 Case                    1          Case

Alt Unit                4 Multipack              1        Case              ??? No pack in Multi pack i.e 24????which field

There is indirect realtion between case and multipack i.e no of packs in multipack - eg 24 and No of multipack for case let say-4 We need to display just this 24 value While checking i got one field in MARM - MESUB and if you check description by f1 description is littlle bit similar to thing i am looking but not able to get cear idea.

Let me know your suggestions

Best Regards

Himanshu

Hi,

As far as i can understand u r looking for a field where u can store indirect conversion for packs and multipacks but my suggestion will go as follows.

SAP supports multiple alternative unit of measurements , but while entering it material master u will always have to maintain conversion with " base unit of measurement"

in above case

Base Unit -          1 Case                    1          Case

Alt Unit                 4 Multipack              1         Case

Alt Unit                24 pack                  1        Case

cud u see if u can adjust ur form / z report with above detail in material master , i think going via standard methodology will give u additional benefits

1. Standard reporting

2. U will be able to use units in all standard transaction

cheers

can you give the technical field names for the fields you are talking about: "On data entry screen there is field which capture "no of packs in multipacks" and there is another field which captures "no of multipacks for a case"."

(put cursor into the field, press F1, then click technical field help to see the field name)

Hello,

Actually this is custom form for data entry and no of packs in multipack is also custom field.

This was not inlcuded earlier to send data to material master. Now we want to include this.

even a custom form can containSAP standard fields, however I have a feeling that these fields are not even SAP standard and you do not even know where they are stored inthe material master. I think you should contact your local developer and ask for the functional design.

Hi,

Thanks for reply and support.

I think you did not get my point. These field are not SAP standard niether this form in which we are entering. I am aware that these fields are stored in one Z table which is used for some reporting purpose while others are hittng material master.

Now point is same we need to get these entry also in standard SAP fields ( we may change the names of those stanard fields or may not i.e as per requirement), and we need to identify those fields in Material master which can accomdate these values in accordance with unit of measure.

If you get chance then have a look ar F1 help detail of this field MARM - MESUB. Just open MARM table and get this field by entering any material number in SE16 the probably you will get better idea of my requirement.

I guess somebody did this analysis already and decided to go for Z-table and fields because there is nothing in standard to accomadate that like he wanted..

If just search for a more standard place then I recommend to use material classification.to store such info.
