Step1: I have Configure the Material Type T.Code(OMS2)

Step2: I Have created the number range using T.Code(MMNR).

Step3:I am trying to Activate the Material ledger using CKMSTART but unfortunately this error message shown. could you help me this anyone

To resolve this issue, follow these steps to ensure all prerequisites are met.

Checklist to Fix FINS_ML_START020
1. Ensure Valuation Area is Assigned to a Company Code Go to transaction OMWB and verify that the valuation area is correctly assigned to a company code.
2. Activate Material Ledger in Customizing Use transaction OMX1 to activate the Material Ledger for the valuation area. Also check OMX2 and OMX3 for currency settings and ledger types.
3.Set Valuation Area as Productive After activation, use CKMSTART to set the valuation area as productive. If this fails, it may be due to missing configuration or open transports.
4. Check for Open Transports or Locks If the company code or valuation area is locked due to open transports (e.g., Q to P), ML activation may be blocked. Refer to SAP Note 2831274 for guidance.
5. Run Production Startup Utilities In some cases, you need to run Production Startup via: Accounting → Controlling → Actual Costing/Material Ledger → Utilities → Production Startup This converts material data for ML use.
6.Review SAP Notes for System Conversion Scenarios If you're migrating from ECC or Simple Finance to S/4HANA, follow SAP Note 2352383 for proper ML activation steps.

Use transaction CKM3N to verify if any materials are already using ML. Check material master settings in MM01/MM02 to ensure ML-relevant views are maintained. Ensure currency types are correctly configured for ML in OMX2.
