Material flow in production orders

Hi there,

let's assume there is a machinery (ressource) with one storage area(#1) for input products and another storage area(#2) for output products - is there any way to set this up without a supply task?

When committing the production tasks we expect ByD to propose area #1 for input products and area #2 for output products.

Hi Klaus,

Yes you can achieve this. Please make sure you have a production model which has Bill of Operations with only Make operation. Now I am assuming the resource you assign for the above Make Operation is assigned with storage area "#1". I would suggest a different approch here.

Have a parent LOA which is non-inventory managed above your logistics areas #1 and #2. As per your requirement "#1" is your Production Supply area and "#2" is your Production Output Area. So have the warehouse designed in something as below.

The Header/Parent logistics areas are Non-Inventory Managed. You can also choose to have both the Production Supply and Production Output under the same Parent Logistics area. Make sure that the child logistics areas are marked as inventory managed.

You can assign the parent logistics area for your resource master data as below.

Now, Under the resources tab of Parent Logistics area maintain Fixed Supply area as "#1" and Fixed Output area as "#2". In the below screen shot "#1" => P1100-30-10 and "#2" => P1100-40-10

Once the above settings are maintained, your make tasks will have the Supply Logistics Area as #1 and Output Logistics Area as #2.

is it necessary that ressource is assigned to the parent logistics area that this setting works? Does it also work if the resource is assigned to loa #3 which is at the same level as #1 and #2?

Furthermore I would like to know how this setting behaves in combination with the setting of logistics area in the production operation. Because I set up an similar configuration of loas and supply/output area, but the ressource is not assigned to the parent logistics area but to another loa of the same level. However, the systems always sets the loa of the production operation as source and destination loa in the production task. Somehow it seems to me that the loa of the production operation oversteers the setting of fixed supply area and fixed output area of the loa.
