Material consumed when we received at site

Hi,

We have one business case. We are moving unrestricted stock to site from store (two different storage locations). We are doing this with STO. We want STO which can be related to WBS/Network to account freight/transport charges. Once we receive material at site, we will move stock from unrestricted to project.

We tried with standard account assignment (N) for STO but material is consumed to project as soon as its received (GR) at site. If we use non-project related account assignment categories, its hard to track freight cost without project reference.

Can you please provide me some pointers to investigate solution to meet this requirement. Also please suggest if anybody has any better suggestion to handle scenario differently.

PS: There is need of using STO, so please consider this while advising any new approach.

Regards,

Pramod

Dear,

As per your message, you are moving stock from one storage location to other.

-> Are the two storage locations under one plant? or different plant.

-> If two different plants then you can have STO process and can be made transfer posting to respective project after GRN at receiving plant.

As our friend "Ken" mentioned, check the settings made for your project profile under SPRO settings  for project stock:

base don this stocks can be updated in stock account.

Before this kindly check the SPRO settings for STO between storage locations from MM point of view.

SPRO-->IMG-->MATERILA MANAGEMENT-->Purchasing-->Purchase Order-->Set up Stock Transport Order-->Set Up Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations-->

Use valuated project stock at project definition. You can use account assignment as P ( Actual cost hit project only when goods issue to project.)

Hi Lalita,

P account assignment will post consumption of material on GR.

you should choose Q as account assignment to keep material in stock after GR.

thanks

Sunil is correct.  P does not work with Valuated Stock you should use Q.  P is direct consumption meaning at GR the cost is charged directly to the WBS, with Q the costs is posted to Balance Sheet Inventory and doesn't get charged to the WBS until Goods Issue from inventory.

1.  What type of stock setting do you have on the Project Definition, Valuated or Non-Valuated?

2.  For Valuated use Account Assignment Q on the STO, then you won't have to move it upon receipt.

I believe account assignment N is for direct consumption (non-valuated stock).
