Manual Depreciation issue

Hi experts,

We have run manual depreciation for some assets through T code ABAA but it is not posted in FI.It is showing as planned depreciation in AR02 reports,Earlier we run said assets through AFAB,but later users requires for full depreciation. That's why we change depreciation key as "manu" and run deperciation through ABAA.

Please advise.

Regards,

Samar

Dear Samar,

From your mail it transpire that you have not completely posted depreciation during the financial year ending 31.03.09 and thats the reason why asset explorer is showing depreciation posted and planned in period 12 are 5045.19 and 3808.15.You might have changed the dep key of the assets after posting the depreciation in period 12.Please run AFAB in repeat mode other wise you will not be able to do Year End Closing Asset Accounting(AJAB).

Please Clarify the same.

Thanks

Hi experts,

Thanks for the reply.

My user has posted depreciation run through AFAB on 31.3.09.That time depreciation key (AS03)was :

Area no.-Depreciation area-Dkey-uselife-Prd-ODep Start-Index Group

01- Book deprec.- J008 - 2 - 0 - 05.09.2008

15- Tax bal.sht. - IN2 - 100- 0 - 01.04.2008

20 - US GAAP -S003 - 100- 0- 05.09.2008

Then asset value was in ar02:

Value Fiscal Year start Change Year-end Crcy

APC transactions - 8853.34 8853.34

Ordinary deprec. - 5,045.19- 5,045.19-

Net book value - 3,808.15 3,808.15

Deprecaition posted/planned:

Status Per Ord. dep.

Posted 12 5,045.19-

Planned 12 3,808.15-

8853.34-

Now they to make depreciation like:

Status Per Ord. dep.

Posted 12 8853.34-

Please advise,

Dear Samar,

Manually correcting depreciation vide ABAA does not create any financial document. You need to run AFABN for posting the depreciation.

Regarding AR02 you have the option of viewing posted depreciation.By default this transaction code displays planned depreciation, but if you scroll AR02 screen downwards and tick the depreciation posted check box you will be able to view the posted depreciation.

I would appreciate if you could explain why you needed to run TC ABAA.If any wrong calculation of depreciation has taken place during the year then the same could be rectified by changing the depreciation key in asset master or any other parameter of dep key in customisation. In the case of changing dep key in asset master you could very well post the revised depreciation vide AFABN,but in the case of changes in customisation you need to run AFAR first then AFABN for posting the revised depreciation.

I presume that you are using ABAA for rectifying the already posted depreciation of earlier years for some of the assets

With best wishes
