Make layout in ME51N selectable but not editable

I know there is a way to make a custom layout in the PR screens. We want to create a new layout and allow any user to select and use it, however we want said layout locked down so they are unable to make changes to it. Is this possible and how would we go about doing so?

You can use authorization object S_ALV_LAYO. Please see following wiki for detail: Authorization to save layouts.

Scott: the best way is using authorizations

Easiest way is to record the user performing the transaction using the STAUTHTRACE transaction - if the user has 02 change access, remove it using PFCG in the role and ensure they can only display (activity 03)
