link sales order reservation to refurbishment order

I have the following scenario: we create a Sales order with a BOM, where the Header does not generate a requirement but the item does.

Our next step is to create a refurbishment order, where the material that generated the requirement is being issued, worked and returned in stock with a different number (the header material).

we link the refurbishment order to the sales order with the existing field in the refurbishment order.

I am trying to achieve the following: when I issue the material in the refurbishment order, I want the open requirement generated from the sales order to disappear from MD04.

is this possible?

Could you please provide more details about your business requirements to ensure better understanding? Additionally, why are you creating a sales order if your objective is to carry out a refurbishment activity?

hello @Vivek_Savant  and thank you for the answer. I understand your question and I will try to explain it as well as I can.

basically we need the following:

we generate a sales order for a customer, selling a programmed board but we purchase the board unprogrammed, hence the requirement for a different material (unprogrammed board).

once this requirement is generated, we must program the board: usually this would be done with a make to order Production order but on this site we did not implement PP. the easiest way for the workers would be to use a refurbishment order since they are using this already.

in the refurbishment order I can enter my requirement: GI of unprogrammed board, work it, GR of programmed board which is what we need to do.

once the programmed board is in stock, we can send it to our customer.

the issue is that the generated requirement of the unprogrammed board from our sales order, does not disappear....

any ideas?

Based on my understanding of your scenario, you have configured the Bill of Materials (BOM) from Sales, where the inventory, MRP, and pricing for components are managed. When an order for programmed boards is received, the system generates a requirement for the components. Consequently, you initiate the purchasing process for unprogrammed boards. Once the procurement of these unprogrammed boards is complete, programming is performed through a refurbishment order. These programmed boards are then associated with the main sales order item and after this you are delivering these programmed board to customer.

Please correct me If I am missing anything

Could you please confirm if you are using the standard Bill of Material configuration? Specifically, what item category group are you maintaining in the material master?

about the item category: we created specific item category in order to have the following:

header of BOM (programmed board) is NOT MRP relevant but it is delivery and billing relevant

item of BOM (non programmed board) is MRP relevant but not delivery and not billing relevant.

Also, the header component has procurement type SE to be able to use it in the refurbishment order as costing relevant.

is this sufficient or you need additional info?
