Limitations in Capacity Planning in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud

Hi!

I hope you're doing !

We are currently at a critical stage with the client, as most of their planning and capacity management is done through the CM25 and CM27 transactions in SAP R/3. We are concerned that the Public Cloud might have more limitations in terms of the capacity planning apps available, particularly with the Capacity Scheduling Board and Capacity Planning Table.

At this point, we are unsure whether the Live Cache will activate the required functionalities for these panels and tables. This uncertainty is a key concern for us as we need to ensure we can provide the necessary capabilities for the client moving forward.

We would appreciate any further insights or updates you can provide on this matter.

Best regards,

In SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, traditional CM25 (Capacity Planning Table) and CM27
(Capacity Scheduling Board) transactions are not available. Instead, capacity planning is handled via
Fiori apps like "Capacity Scheduling" and "Manage Work Center Capacity."

Key Limitations:
1. No Classic Capacity Planning Transactions – CM25/CM27 are not supported.
2. Limited Customization – Public Cloud restricts deep customization compared to On-Premise.
3. Live Cache Dependency – Live Cache is used in PP/DS (Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling) but may not fully replace CM25/CM27 functionalities.
4. Alternative Apps – Use Fiori-based capacity planning tools with embedded analytics.

Dear @umasaral ,

Thank you for taking the time to respond and explain these key points. I really appreciate your insights.

I understand that CM25 and CM27 are not available in S/4HANA Public Cloud and that capacity planning must be managed through Fiori apps like Capacity Scheduling and Manage Work Center Capacity. However, given the challenges my customer is facing, I would like to clarify a few points:

1️⃣ Handling large volumes of production orders – Are there any recommendations for efficiently managing scenarios where hundreds of short-duration orders need to be scheduled, especially when adjustments (shifting orders left or right) are required?

2️⃣ Managing multiple capacities in a work center – Since CM25 allowed distributing operations across multiple capacities while adjusting the planned finish date, does Public Cloud provide an equivalent approach to ensure that ATP reflects the correct availability date?

3️⃣ Integration with HR work schedules – If Public Cloud does not support direct integration with HR work schedules for capacity availability, is there an alternative way to ensure that employee absences (e.g., sick leave, vacation) are considered in capacity planning?

I would appreciate any further insights or recommendations on these topics. Thanks again for your support!

Best regards,
